Parador Hotel El Hierro
The El Hierro Parador is located right by the sea opposite the Roque de Bonanza, where the sea and the volcanic mountains meet. This island was thought, for many centuries, as the westernmost boundary of the world.
This modern building, dotted with beautiful balconies, has an elegant, colonial interior ideal for rest and tranquillity.
The Parador's restaurant features the exotic Canary Island dishes often fish dishes and the local produce. There is a special menu for those on a gluten free diet.
If your stay at the hotel is in May, enjoy the religious festival of the Feast of San Isidro. In July every four years, there is the descent of the Virgen de los Reyes. In December, there is the feast of Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion.
Visit the beaches of the island to swim, sail, fish or scuba diving. You may also enjoy a trip to the inland rock formations either on foot or by riding a mountain bike.
The Parador of El Hierro has thirty seven twin bedded rooms and ten rooms with a double bed.
All the rooms have a private bathroom and also telephone, satellite television, safe and a minibar.
Parador facilities include currency exchange, satellite television, telephone, conferences room, free internet access in communal areas, parking facilities (without security and limited places), piped music, restaurant and bar.
There is also a gymnasium, garden, jacuzzi, Turkish bath, Mini Golf, childen's play area, sauna, and a seasonal swimming pool.
Distance from the nearest airport is approximately 17 kms and the nearest port is 12 kms away.
The swimming pool is closed during the winter season.

Reception was excellent, very friendly, welcoming and efficient. Our bedroom with the sea view was very comfortable, well appointed with an excellent balcony. The sea view was spectacular. The restaurant was brilliant. The waiter who stectacularly served all the guests on his own did so with panache and efficiency. The food was delicious and the choice was excellent. Breakfast was a delight. Fruit and vegetable kebabs, tomato pulp to spread on one's toast plus all the usual foods. The location was fantastic. We took a short taxi ride from the port and after the tunnel our first view was the Parador nestled by the sea. A dream location. We enjoyed the gardens and swam in the sea water pool. We relaxed, enjoyed our peaceful surroundings, the service, our fantastic sea view and walked locally. We will go back in May 2014.

Simply a perfect place to get away from everything.Lovely hotel-great room with good view and sounds of the sea.Staff attentive, food reasonable (although smoked fish came still frozen from freezer).I would certainly be happy to return.

The hotel location is superb and the staff were generally helpful and professional as one would expect at this price level. Reception service was slow with only one staff member on duty although further staff were in the office behind but did not assist. Unfortunately the grounds were sadly lacking in attention and when compared with the beautiful gardens at the nearby parador of San Sebastian looked like a neglected wasteland. Much of the area adjacent to the swimming pool looked like a builder's tip with rubbish lying around. Someone needs to get organised and bring the surroundings up to the level of the hotel.
