We had the most enchanted experience at Cangas de Onis. Out of the three paradores we stayed in this one took the cake. The setting is gorgeous with the proximity to the river surrounded by mountains. The parador is of course an amazing step back in time, but the amenities and quality of restaurant, bar, community areas are first rate. Highly recommend.

Hi, Wonderful food, great setting, and nice people. Our stay was a real pleasure. Two of the highlights of our trip to Spain were Covadonga, and especilly Cueva de El Buxo, located just a few minutes from the Parador. We hope to return soon.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Parador. The staff were very friendly with a special mention for the barman, Ramon, who was brilliant. Our room was very nice, in the old part of the Parador. Breakfast was good however the only downside was the dinners. We did not find the food particularly good, a lot better to be had in Cangas de Onis and cheaper. The main gripe we had was the lighting in the dining room. It was like eating in a canteen, totally at odds with the rest of the Parador. Despite this I would recommend the Parador, which is in an amazing area which we will visit again.

Overall, the hotel was a slight disappontment although there were very good experiences also. The worst was really in the beginning - nobody bothered to tell us where our rooms are located not to mention helping with the luggage. This resulted in pointless and endless wandering around the corridors with all our luggage. The "superior" rooms were quite OK, but really dark. More light would urgently be needed. Breakfast was very good and other meals reasonably good, although there was no variation in the menu for day to day. However, the first evening salmon was clearly over-aged and unconsumable. The restaurant could not offer anything outside from the menu as we had dinner to celebrate my 50th birthday although we asked - not a special drink, any greeting, nothing. But we could use the chapel for a friendīs song present which was nice. The location was not ideal for trekking as many of the better Picos treks need over 2 hours driving to be reached. Conclusion: quite a pleasant stay, but not completely what we had expected.
