Comments Parador Villafranca Del Bierzo

Villafranca del Bierzo is the illustrious centre of a very lovely region and also a stop on St James’ Way. The Parador’s architecture imitates the lines and shapes of nearby Galicia. Parador de Villafranca del BierzoThe landscape of the Sierra de Ancares to the North complements the beauty of the Parador’s garden. Its interior is decorated with Castilian style furniture and wrought iron lamps.

The wooden floors lend elegance and comfort to the bedrooms and other rooms of the hotel. The lounge, one of the most attractive spaces in the Parador, is welcoming and comfortable.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Parador. The bedrooms were newly refurbished and extremely clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel was ideally situated for easy access to both the town and the motorway. Breakfast was very good, with an excellent selection available. Unfortunately dinner was a disaster, not because of the food but the complete lack of atmosphere. Harsh fluorescent lights and very few diners in a large room and the waiting staff were dressed like chambermaids. There are plenty of restaurants nearby however and we would still return to this Parador.

The most modern Parador we stayed in but very comfortable. Help with bags, friendly staff, restaurant recommendations. Would stay again if in the area.. Pretty little town to visit whilst friends were doing the more serious walking.

This Parador was not close to the level of the other Paradors I have stayed in. My view of the Parking Lot was not very nice. There was a party outside that lasted literally until 6 o clock in the morning.
The shower equipment was of very low quality, shaky and pulling off the wall.
There was almost no room to sit near the pool and the temperature of the pool was so cold that even the lifeguard would not go into it.
The people at the reception were very nice and helpful.
I would not ever stay at this Parador again though I would return to the lovely town of Villafranca.

We loved the hotel and the town of Villafranca del Bierzo which was the star in our trip from Santander to Galicia.

Everbody working in the Parador were charming. The swimming pools were wonderful after a days driving. The food in the restaurant was superb. Our rooms were lovely and spacious with great views of the hills and vinyards. Quiet and peaceful setting. We spent the morning in the town which is easy to walk to in 3 minutes and is marvelous: beautiful public gardens and historic buildings and a bodega (Palacio de Arganza) which sells terrific local wine.
