Comments Parador Vic-Sau
The Parador Vic-Sau is in one of the most beautiful natural settings in the Osona area, with the Guillerias mountains in the background and the Sau reservoir at its feet.
The peaceful scenery is ideal for outdoor and adventure sports and for visiting very old Romanesque churches.
This is the closest Parador to Barcelona (82 km. by motorway). With the Parador just a step away, one can visit this cosmopolitan city and return every day.
The Parador reflects the traditional style of the Catalan country house, with its well-tended garden, rooms with terrace and a magnificent swimming pool with exceptional views, and spacious, comfortable lounges.

Information and reservations at Parador of Vic-Sau
We stayed for four nights over Xmas and could not fault it. The staff in particular were particularly friendly and attentive. The location is exceptionally beautiful with outstanding views over the lake from our room balcony. The new motorway from the coast to Vic had just opened before our visit making Gerona airport only a short drive away.
beautiful beautiful setting. Excellent evening meal a very high standard. Easy to get to , we had no problems but found out later we had good travel instructions and that we had booked on a Welsh site! which is very similar to the official parador site. But there were no problems with that. Breakfast the next day was amazing again – the only problem was we were too full from the night before. Book a room with a balcony to make full use of the scenery. Staff delightful.
We stayed at Vic Sau on 30th June and 1st July 2012 (two nights). An amazing hotel in a spectacular location.
We received a good welcome from reception staff and were immediately offered the option of an upgrade, which we accepted. Our room was on the front of the hotel overlooking the lake and the swimming pool; what a view. Our room was clean, well presented and spacious.
The public rooms were very comfortable and welcoming.
We used the swimming pool despite the cooler atmosphere after a heavy rainstorm – wonderful. the pool attendant could not have been more friendly and helpful.
We had dinner in the restaurant on both evenings. There was a good choice of food on the menu and there was a nice ambiance. The staff were friendly and helpful.
This is a quiet hotel well away from towns and cities, which added to the appeal for us.
We visited the monastery nearby and enjoyed the mountain-top views from there.
The man on reception went to a great deal of trouble to locate and provide us with a sewing kit.
Negative points we noted are far outweighed by the good points, but here they are anyway: There was a slight odour of dampness between reception and the dining room, which indicated that there had been a problem. The carpet on the staircase was frayed and worn, which could cause a person to trip.
In all Vic Sau is wonderful and we will be returning!.
We stayed at Vic-Sau 12-13th May 2012. Location was excellent. The room was excellent lovely view from the balcony.
We decided to eat in the Restaurant on the Saturday evening. The food was of poor quality and badly presented. The waiter was unhelpful.
breakfast was uninteresting pastries were not fresh.
We stayed here one night in early May 2012. The day before we stayed at the Parador in La Seu d’Urgell. Our room here was terrific. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We walked down to the reservoir and back – very nice. We drove to the monastery and paid the modest fee (3 euro each?) for entrance – it is well worth it.
Breakfast was included – we did not have a choice to opt out when we booked; I believe our hotel bill showed breakfast to be around 40 euro for two; this is certainly expensive, but it is such a fabulous breakfast that we don’t object (although we would not want to pay this amount for an entire week).
Dinner was not great, and there are no other places nearby. The biggest problem with dinner was the ambiance and staff. The staff was courteous, but not very attentive. The restaurant has a supper high ceiling and the lights were quite bright; there was background music that was loud enough that you couldn’t ignore it, although it did not interfere with conversation; so there was no possibility of an intimate dinner. In contrast, at La Seu d’Urgell, the lighting was perfect, and the music so faint that often you had to strain to hear it. Finally, the food at dinner was just not as good as it should have been. My companion agrees, but she wants to note that the olive oil was the best ever.
So stay here for the rooms and surroundings, and hope that the restaurant improves the dinner venue.
We had a great time. The location and views were spectacular. The monastery that is close by was a great hike. There are some very good places to hike and enjoy the outside. The towns around the area have some very good history and we enjoyed exploring them. The food in the hotel was very good and there are some other very good resturants in the area. We did have to get use to eating meals later then we are use to in the States. Lunches do not usually start till 1:30 and dinners after 8:00. So you have to get use to late evening meals. It is nice to relax in the bar early and have a drink before dinner. We would recommend Vic- Sau and would go back ourselves.
The location of the hotel is stunning with a breathtaking view of the mountains and the lake. Our bedroom was superb with a wonderful view from our balcony. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast, with a terrific choice. Wines were reasonably priced as were the drinks in the bar. A visit to the Saturday market in Vic is a must. The only negative is that a door should be added between the toilet and bathroom area. Nice little touches in the bathroom with toiletries etc. Our stay was for 2 nights and after 4 hectic days in Barcelona this was a great finish to our holiday. I would not hesitate in recommending this Parador hotel.
Wonderful place! very polite & kind staff willing to help.
The bedroom was excellent and very clean.
View from balcony is amazing.
Breakfast was very good.
It will be good to have a door between the toilet room and the bath room.
Water in swimming pool were too cold.
Outstanding location, excellent rooms, friendly and helpful staff, fine breakfasts. Swimming pool and gardens great. Would recommend the spectacular walk from the parador to the monastery which takes about an hour each way at sightseeing pace. (Moderate to easy walking on good paths)
The big disappointment for us was the food in the restaurant. This was all very elaborately and attractively presented but often seemed to lack real flavour. Strongly suggest that the chef and team concentrate more on quality of ingredients, authentic Spanish cooking and flavour, and less on fussy and presumably time consuming presentation.
I have always wanted to stay at a Parador and for my wife and me Vic-Sau was just perfect! The reputation of the Parador system was more than upheld in every way: the room and its views, the food, and the attentive staff. The ability to take the train from Vic into Barcelona was also a major plus. In addition we were interested in the fact that the Hotel supported local artists by both buying their work for the hotel, as well as offering interesting exhibitions in the lobby.
We stayed at this parador May 2011 and really enjoyed it! The views can not be beat! The dining was great and very accommodating for my husband who can only eat gluten free. The grounds and pool were beautiful. My kids wished the pool was warmer, but maybe next time we will go later in the summer. There is a lot to do nearby. We loved Vic and Rupit.
My wife and I stayed at the parador this may 2011 we had a great time ,the views from the hotel are amazing ,the staff very friendly and the food excellent , we visited Vic a lovely little city and the surrounding countryside is very picturesque, we would highly recommend this parador
cost performance it’s not the best I had in Spain . the only good thing is the View ( unless you got the room facing south / north ) breakfast was very good , but basically the attitude of the staff is not as expected .
The staff at Vic Sau could not have been nicer – I had a fall two days before we left for Spain, and had to ice my knee several times a day. (I now know Catalan for ice, hielo). The food was excellent, great fun to try some of the local meats, the room was lovely, the scenery was outstanding, and the nearby monastery is really worth a visit. It was a wonderful place to start our visit to Spain, very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.
What a stunning setting. The view from our room was amazing and the staff could not have been more helpful. A must for anyone that is reasonably fit, is to do the hike to the monastery. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. PS Well sign posted so it makes it easy to find.
We spent our 36th wedding anniversary at Parador de Vic-Sau and it was a lovely setting. Our room was very nice with a gorgeous view and our dinner in the restaurant was very nice. We will definitely stay at other Paradors when in Spain!!
This summer (2010) was our 2nd visit and it was better than the first. The room had stunning views over the dam and was very quiet and comfortable. After a long drive the quiet and relaxation of the mountains was very welcome. The food and service in the resaurant are excellent, reception was helpful and welcoming and the pool was another factor towards being able to wind down fully in the space of an hour. On the negative side, our stay was too short. We have stayed at 4 different Paradores in Spain and Vic is our favourite. We’ll be back!
This was another outstanding parador, our room had wonderful views and the area was beautiful. We were travelling to France but spent 2 nights here. We drove to a lovely village for lunch as suggested by a member of staff. It was the night of Spain winning the world cup, however the staff found time for us and we enjoyed a lovely meal that evening.
Peaceful, quiet, restful, good food, friendly staff, good views, good walks
Four days in lovely surroundings. Would have preferred a room with a balcony.
We had a 2 night stay in Vic Sau. This was our first experience of a parador. The room was excellent. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was most enjoyable with an excellent choice. Views and location are breathtaking. We will definitely be back.
We had a lovely stay at two paradores, Vic Sau and Aguablava in the beginning of May, lovely weather and food but bed without a soft matress like we have in Sweden. The view from the rooms was very beautiful.
We enjoyed our 3 days very much. The location and arrival was
exceptional and our room was comfortable with a large balcony and view. We spent a day in Vic and could have returned if we had more time
—-much of interest there — we did the walk to the monastery and
would recommend it for the ambience and views as well as the monastere itself. Restaurant was good if different for us ! Staff and service were very good. It would be good to have more information about the surrounding villages and any local restaurants for those staying longer. We have recommended you to friends in France and Australia
May 15th-May 19th 2010
What a beautiful location!
We had a wonderful stay in this Parador, the scenery is fantastic. We had a lovely room overlooking the lake, which was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was the best we have ever had in the Paradors ( and we have stayed in a few now)
We were able to do a few walks from the Parador, and we went into Vic for a visit which was really interesting.
Would love to return.

Great Parador !! Beautiful room with a beautiful view. We didn’t eat dinner in the parador but had great dinner in the near village.
As always, the nights spent at the two Paradors, Vic and Aiguabrave were spectacular. The staff is professional and warm. My only complaint is the poor signage to get to these places. This is a pervasive problem in Spain. I am a very experienced traveler and struggle to find stuff in big and small cities. I recommend Paradors to all my friends.

We enjoyed our stay enormously. We have our own holiday home only 55 km away but it was as if we were in a completely different country.
There was a misunderstanding about our reservation by e-mail but on arrival the local staff gave us a suite(!) with the best view, fantastic. The location, the surroundings, the splendid view as well as the restaurant and terace are wonderful. We enjoyed the special menu in celebration of the Parador Anniversary. Because we visited in October the outdoor pool was closed and so we missed an indoor wellness or fitness centre. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere very much but for families with young children there is not much to do as the hotel is so remote and you always need a car to go somewhere else. This was our second Parador: We are planning to visit each year another one!
Enjoyed our stay despite it being end of season (October) and therefore the Parador was very quiet. Only one suggestion: more and better maps for walking in the beautiful countryside.
My son and I had the pleasure of staying at three Paradores on our recent visit to Spain. Parador Vic-Sau was the first. All were beautiful, the staff extremely helpful and the service excellent. Well placed and easy to read signs enabled us to find each Parador without any difficulty.
The view from the Parador Vic-Sau was outstanding, the public rooms were beautiful and the food delicious. O f the three Paradores we visited Vic-Sau was the furtest from any populated area. The monastery next to the Parador was not open at the designated hours, so we were unabale to pay a visit on the day we were leaving. We were both very impressed with the Paradores and hope to return someday to a different area of Spain and enjoy staying at other Paradores.
We stayed at the parador and thought it was the best one on our tour. The reception was friendly and helpful. We had a room over looking the reservoir (side view) and that was magnificent. We were walking a lot during the day and it was lovely to come back to a large, clean and comfortable bedroom. The service in the restaurant was efficient without being overbearing and the food was excellent. We enjoyed the ‘between’ courses dishes as well – trying local dishes and drinks!
Breakfast was ample and a lovely choice.
We will certainly return to this parador and indeed to others all over Spain-they are interesting buildings, excellent food and generally of a high standard.
Absolutely brilliant. Room upgrade on arrival, views magnificent, staff very good, food delicious, quiet location, town not far away, local walks. Cannot fault it – except for noisy children in swimming pool but that’s part of life and did not spoil our stay. Have been to a few paradors and all have been excellent.
I stayed in the parador just one night, but wish it could have been for a longer stay. The views from our balcony were exceptional, the staff friendly and our breakfast in the morning was excellent. I found that the room was very comfortable and extremely clean with all the desired amenities. I would not hesitate to recommend this parador to anyone fortunate enough to be in this beautiful area of Spain.
Most impressed by the quiet location and fabulous views, especially from our room. Staff friendly, food and wine excellent. Wonderful walk to the monastery fighting through lush vegetation – and back again! Lots to see, including the charming town of Vic. We loved it!! My husband, who is not a fan of paradores, really liked this one.
The parador was magnificently situated, and the rooms and service were on a par with those of other paradors in Spain – my husband and I have been to many, so we are in a position to comment. While the food was not as elegant as that of some other paradors, such as those of Leon, Lerma or Santiago, the dining room was lovely and one could find a pleasing table.
We stayed two days and enjoyed every moment !
The Parador is beautiful, the view is magnificant,
there are walking trails in the very near neighborhood that one can walk or drive carefully.
We enjoyed our stay, (10.07.09) but there was a problem. 12 hours after eating dinner, I became ill with diarrhoea and vomiting, and I strongly suspect this was due to contaminated food. These things happen, but it was irritating to then be charged the full rate for breakfast, when all I was able to take by mouth was 1 cup of tea (despite explaining the circumstances to the reception staff).
We LOVED the Parador!! I have stayed at several others throughout Spain and I was again delighted! This was the first time staying here and also for my husband and he loved it as well. Quiet, great view, great service, amazing food! very nice for special diet needs too! It more than met our expectations. We arrived in the mist and rain and for us it was like a wonderland castle in the mountain mist!!! I prefer Paradors over ANY other hotels in Spain!
Our stay was wonderful, next time it will be for longer, September.
The only negative was the lighting in the main dining room at night, to bright!
Otherwise everything was excellent, rooms, views, food, wine and staff.
The hotel is in a beautiful location with a breathtaking view. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food wonderful. I would recommend and visit again.
Our stay was lovely, and we did the incredible hike to the monastery on foot. Food was fabulous. Room and view were lovely.
