Parador Segovia
Modern, welcoming and surprising, the Parador of Segovia is in one of the most monumental cities in Spain, declared a World Heritage site. It offers the best views of Segovia. It is also the perfect base for visiting the many natural spaces in the province.
The rooms of the Hotel are large and comfortable, with splendid views over the city, as do the dining room and outdoor pool. The spacious foyer is used to show modern paintings and designs, in clear contrast to the rounded, simple lines framing the heated pool.
Highpoints include the splendid convention centre, with various halls and meeting rooms, and the dining room, a showcase for local products: beans from La Granja, Castellana soup and lamb or sucking pig roasted in a wood-fired oven.
Information and reservations at Parador of Segovia

Reception staff were welcoming. Breakfast, dinner and bar were good. However the hotel looks tired and is in sore need of refurbishment. The bedroom balcony had chipped tiling. We couldn’t walk round to the front of the building for the view of the old town because it was all locked up. Overall needs some improvement to reach the Parador standard.
Pleasant stay. Nice restaurant, nice pools: the outdoor pool was chilly though, and the indoor pool was not operating yet!
Beautiful view of the city of Segovia, both from the public rooms (restaurant…) and from the room with a small balcony.
Good breakfast.
Staff not as helpful as in other paradors regarding luggage etc.: at the reception they are always very busy, or pretend to be so!
We stayed here and the Paradores in Cuenca and Toledo. The rooms were large, clean and provided nice, albeit distant, views of Segovia. Note that the Parador Segovia is not in a historic building, instead occupying a example of dramatic modern architecture of a few decades past, but not unusual enough to seem anything but a bit of a “period piece”. While the two other Paradores at which we stayed were also perched on hills outside of town, this one was slightly more remote, requiring us to drive a distance into town. Front desk help was a bit cold and unfriendly compared to the other Paradores. The lobby restaurant was decent, with a good wine list. The hotel has an attached convention center that at times made parking a bit difficult and drew from the charm. Somehow the place just lacked the ambiance of the other Paradores. On balance, although we love the Paradores in general, we might opt for a more historic structure in the town of Segovia, which itself was stunning.
We stayed in the Paradores at Segovia, Salamanca, Avila and Toledo. All provided a delightful place to stay. The locations were stunning and made the holidays. Staff very helpful & tolerant of my poor spanish. A cultural wander through Castille with the knowledge of an excellent hotel to return at night.
Odd building but truly memorable overall – Segovia is spectacular and the views of the city from the hotel are stunning.
Room very good and restaurant great!
Will be going again………………
We stayed at The Parador Segovia overnight en-route from Almeria to Santander. We were most impressed by all aspects of the Parador particularly the friendly and helpful reception, room standard and the excellent breakfast.
We visited Segovia old town and fell in love with the night atmosphere and old buildings. We will visit again and would recommend the Parador and Segovia to our friends.
Had a wonderful stay – the views were lovely. staff excellent and very welcoming. food – we had the local specialities and left not a crumb! A quick visit around Segovia and the Alcazaba, the Cathedral was closed for refurbishment. Most interesting but my husband who is recovering from back surgery bravely ascended and descended the 157 steps up the tower!! The aquaduct is a sight to behold and the evening sun did the town justice. We were sorry to have such a short visit and only passing through. We must come again! Oh and comfy beds!!
Reception staff were welcoming (and helpful when our door key wouldn’t work).
We stayed in this Parador as part of a week in February. I have to say that had we visited this Parador first I would not have been disappointed, however we came after spending time in Siguenza! How can this Parador compete with a medieval castle?
It can’t!
The staff were helpful, and breakfast was OK, the room was spacious and light, and yes this Parador is due a refurbish, but the view of Segovia from the balcony was quite spectacular!
we stayed at segovia parador on september 11.and the room/food and location were excellent.
we stay every year at a different parador location while in spain and have now stayed at 7 different locations.
all have been excellent with our favourite being toledo and we will continue to stay at thesed excellent institutions on our trips through Spain
Our least favorite of the five paradors. Impersonal and modern and in need of some upgrades. It did have nice views of Segovia which is lovely and while the help in the restaurant is Stuffy, the roast pig is to die for.
We enjoy our stay In Madrid and the surrounding areas Toledo and Segovia.
The Diamond of the Crown was our staying at the Parador de Segovia.
We got a room at the fifth floor and the view towards Segovia was magnificent.
Food was excellent and the staff was very kind and helpful.
In few words it was an unforgettable experience and its pity that we couldn’t stay more.
Have to agree with others that this Parador did not meet the high standards that we have come to expect having stayed in several others. Location was good with wonderful views over the old town and the balcony in the bedroom was nice. However definitely showings signs of wear and tear and a refurb should be priority. Basic housekeeping should perhaps address the cobwebs in the bar area! While dinner was good, the waiting staff were a shade on the sullen side. Must try harder.
We bought a 5-night card for our recent visit to norther Spain. We flew into Madrid after many hours traveling from the west coast USA. Arrived in Segovia in a torrential rain/thunder storm. How welcoming the Segovia parador was. We had a wonderful stay here, very convenient for exploring the old town of Segovia. This turned out to be our favorite parador of the 5 we stayed at. Have already recommended it to friends.
Wonderful parador. We rented a car in Madrid and had no trouble finding the Parador, as all the roads had proper signage. Although we were there very early, long before the normal check-in time, we had a room in less than 5 minutes, and it had a beautiful view of the town and the cathedral. Even though we only stayed one night — we were heading to a wedding in Santiago de Compostela — we regretted leaving Segovia, since it really is a beautiful small town worth a longer visit. Our room was large and comfortable, with an excellent bath and shower. Check-out next day was every bit as efficient. We would do it again, perhaps for 3 days.
Disappointing – last stop on our tour of Northern Spain, and whilst proximity to the town was OK, it felt more like a youth hostel or a university hall of residence than a parador. Such a shame with every other place we’d stayed at just terrific. Had requested a suite, but didn’t realise that meant the view of the town was not as good as the less expensive rooms!
Reception staff on arrival – indifferent, uncaring.
Room – basic, clean, overpriced, poor TV reception (ok, small point, but typified the tired ambience of the place)
Restaurant – (breakfast) – large, impersonal.
Overall – definitely not recommended, sorry, and in complete contrast to many shops and cafes we stopped at in the beautiful town where a much more personable and friendly greeting was given. The parador felt like we’d paid our money upfront so they didn’t have to try at all.
Although the location of the Parador is ideal unfortunately I can’t say the same about the rooms. We were informed we would be at a high category room (as we paid a higher rate) but the walss were all stained with all kinds of marks including remenents of dead insects. Our curtains were partly off the hooks and somehow there was a constant abundance of flying insects. We complained and were offered another room but with similar impairments.
The hotel needs refurbishment and we were informed that due to the “crisis” this was deferred. Yet there were no rooms available !
We stayed and a number of other Paradores that same week: Santiago de Compostela, Cambados, Benevente and Salamanca all of which would commend…….Segovia regretably was a let down.
Wonderful hotel and location.
Easy access to Segovia – cheap taxi ride there and back.

We enjoyed very much staying with you.
Special thanks to the reception staff who made a lot of efforts to
satisfy us on our arrival.
This was my third stay with you and hopefully not the last one…
The view of Segovia is fantastic. The rooms are large and comfortable. S0ome of the furniture in the sitting rooms on the ground floor is old and worn. Some items in the tourist shop are not available.
Spectacular views of Segovia and a wonderful restaurant. What follows may seem a strange, recommendation, but if you do eat there, do not miss the suckling pig, a regional specialty. I had misgivings and second thoughts as I considered it on the menu, largely because of the images I held of cute, tiny piglets, waiting to be roasted for my pleasure. Those issues resolved, I ordered boldly and awaited the arrival of the dish. Despite any misgivings I may have had, it was clear from he first bite that the suckling pig served to us at the parador in Segovia was likely the culinary highlight of our trip to Spain. The meals we consumed on the remainder of the trip, while generally well-prepared and nicely done, confirmed our ranking of the Segovia suckling pig. My sincere thanks and compliments to the chef, and to the generous piglet.
We had a very enjoyable stay at this Parador. Loved the little touches such as the fruit in the room. Booked over the Parador website and was slightly unhappy the room was not with Hydromassage which we had wanted (instead we got a room with a sitting area which was fine but we thought “superior” was this type oof room). Parador website could be improved to link better with the types of rooms available at each hotel.
Food was lovely and views spectacular at any time of day. Beautiful to see the sun setting over the city and the plains
The stay at this parador was amazing!! Everything from the views to the staff were wonderful. The room had a great view to the city of Segovia during the day and what a sight at night. The food was delicious, it was clean, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I went during February, and now I can’t wait to go back again, but this time in the summer. I would like to take advantage of the grounds and of the pool. some of the best picture I took were from my balcony.
In general, paradors could be more clearly signed. At Segovia we had difficulty find ing the parador, approaching from Avila. We also had problems in August when we stayed at Argomaniz, after entering Vittoria.
We received a very friendly welcome at Segovia. In Spain you expect dinner to be served late; the meal was good and the wine excellent. The view of the city from our room was superb, by day and night, and one should certainly request a room with a view. The outdoor pool was closed, but we sat outside on the balcony before dinner, and we enjoyed the indoor pool. We flew back to UK from Valladolid next day, an easy journey except for chaos in the city centre at Valladolid. We also stayed at Guadalupe in August – our all time favourite!
We enjoyed our stay at the Parador de Segovia on both the 14th Sept and 7th Oct 2009. Our only problem was finding the Parador on our travel
down from Santander. If you enter Segovia from the NW on the N110 then the signs for the parador are unclear. The worst problem was finding the correct exit for the CL601 at Valladolid from
the A62. Had we not had this ploblem our journey would have shorter in
time and miles and perhaps we would have found the Parador more easily.
Stayed two nights late September although outdoor pool closed indoor pool was excellent and we used it each day.Reception staff friendly and helpfull. Room clean well equipped with superb views and a balcony we could sit on.Wonderful dining/breakfast room, very atmospheric overlooking Segovia in the evening. Staff allowed us to leave our car in the car park whilst we took the train to the centre of Madrid where we stayed for three nights before returning to Paradore Segovia spending a further night collecting our car and onward travel.( a good way to explore Madrid without the worry of city centre driving!)Would agree with previous comment, it would be nice if dinner started earlier than 2030hrs
We stayed at Paradores in Segovia, Cordoba, Mojacar and Alcaniz all of
which were excellent. I particularly
enjoyed the local menus which were good value.
Please keep me advised of any offers or news regarding Paradores as we
would like to visit Spain again next year.
Parador Segovia – staff very helpful, room comfortable, views spectacular. Breakfast excellent but dinner was disappointing – expensive and of indifferent quality.
Parador Vitoria – staff extremely helpful and super accommodation. Dinner good but still expensive – breakfast ok but not to the same standard as Segovia.
We had a room with wonderful views over the city and ate an excellent dinner on the terrace watching the sunset. We hadn’t expected the parador to be so far out of the city and kept thinking we were lost on the way, but we got there in the end. Unfortunately, since this was a one-night stop on the way back to England from the Alpujarra we didn’t have time to sightsee. Next time, perhaps?
We had a lovely two night stay at this parador. The rooms were ok, maybe not as good as other paradores that we have been fortunate enough to have stay at. However, the view from the balcony was beautiful, it looks over the city and the aquaduct. The hotels public rooms are vast and the views are truely beautiful! The resturant was wonderful, our inention was to eat there one night and eat in Sergovia another, but it was so good we ate in the resturant on both nights, well actually we ate on the terrace (beautiful). The resturant staff were wonderful as was the food – well done, it was truely first class. We would most definitely stay at this parador again.
Segovia was our first stop on our trip around central Spain. The hotel accomodation was very good with views over the old town- the vista covering the alcazar to the viaduct. The bar and restaurant were excellent and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Segovia itself is very walable and our visit coincided with the Feast of St Peter and we were caught up in the parades, music and other festivities. The fireworks over the city were impressive.
The alcazar is worth a visit and the city itself is full of character and relaxed. The second day of our visit we drove up to the mountains and up to Pedraza- a medieval hilltown.
A very friendly reception and a room with a wonderful view. This is a very relaxing hotel and a bonus was having dinner (excellent food) on the terrace each night overlooking the city. This is usually our first stop in Spain and is something we look forward to very much.
This parador is very luxurious. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Not all rooms have great view of the city. Ask for a room with a “good” view. Breakfast was good. Other meals too expensive. Indoor pool was out of order. The gym was adequate although some of the machines were not in working order. Outdoor pool was nice and lounging area has nice view of the city. The city is accessable from the parador if you have a car, but parking is hard to find close to interesting places in the city. The alcazar is a site worth the visit to the city. Night lighting in the city is beautiful. We stayed only at paradores on out eleven day journey through Spain and we would recommend them to all types of travelers.
My wife and I stayed at the following Paradores : Toledo, Carmona, and Segovia. All hotels excellent. Rooms very comfortable and spacious. Staff
helpful. Only problem for English guests is that we would prefer dinner
starting a little earlier than 8.30 pm ?
In previous years we have also stayed at other Paradores including :
Ciudad Rodrigo and Cordoba (x2). When booking accommodation at Paradores we are not always able to obtain
the discount rates for which we qualify. I also understand that it is
possible to obtain other discounts based on the number of visits to
Paradores but I do not know the conditions for such discounts !
We loved our stay at the parador. The public rooms are magnificient and we had a room with private balcony with a view of Segovia and the acqueduct. We enjoyed the pool and wonderful breakfast. Service was excellent and we followed the staff recommendations about what to see in Segovia. We stayed in several other paradors on our trip and would highly recommend them to everyone. We hope to return!
