November 6, 2011 at the Salamanca Parador was our first night in a two week tour of seven paradors throughout Western Spain. What a great pick to start a great adventure! The entire staff all went out of their way to welcome us into a hotel of modern, luxurious amenities and comfortable surroundings. The views of Salamanca drew us into the town for some heavy duty sightseeing and a treat of churros and hot chocolate.

We can certainly recommend the Salamanca Parador to anyone wanting to experience elegant comfort at a reasonable price.

We only stayed one night, Friday 11 November 2011, but what an enjoyable experience it was. Reception staff were good. The room size and amenities were great. The view from the room overlooking the old town was very good. The evening meal in the restaurant was of the highest standard, both for service and food. The room was quiet and the bed very comfortable for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was a wonderful experience. Salamanca is a wonderful town to visit, the old town area and cathedral very interesting to wander around, and the Parador a top place to stay. Highly recommended.

We, a senior couple from England, stayed one night at the Salamanca Parador on our way toSouth Spain . We have only positive comments to make. From the moment we arrived until we left everything was perfect. The personnel at the reception, the quality of the room, the view, the proximity to the old town and the beautiful cathedral and magnifcent Plaza Mayor, the quality of the breakfast, the cleanliness of the room, all receive our highest recommendation!

Having stayed at the Salamanca Parador previously for three nights we had no quarms in staying there again for an overnight stay on our journey from Santander to the South of Portugal. We found the reception staff friendly and efficient and after putting our luggage in the room (which unfortunately overlooked the car park) we were quickly down by the excellent pool for a couple of hours sunbathing. The food in the restaurant was very good given what we find is a restricted choice of menu. We once again enjoyed the evening views of the Cathedral from the dining room.

We stayed here for 2 nights in October. Very comfortable hotel with superb views and easy walk to old town. Good breakfast. A very enjoyable stay, it would have been even better if we had a room overlooking the city

We stayed at 5 Paradores during our trip and all were very comfortable. Salamanca was unique in being non-historic but it was equivalent to the others in terms of comfort. We cannot address the dining room since we only had breakfast there and which was basic "Parador fare". The walk to town over the Roman Bridge (15-20 min to the Plaza Mayor) provides photographers changing light with each hour. It would, however, be less enchanting in the rain.

We have used this hotel twice before as a stopover to the south of Spain. Always so welcoming, great breakfast and easy to reach the town centre. Hotel well appointed, with plenty of parking.

My wife and I noticed some rather attractive ceramics in the parador. When we asked the reception staff where they came from, we were told that all that kind of thing was ordered centrally from Madrid, so they didn't know. We later found a label "Made in China" on one of the large jars. It seems a pity that the paradors don't encourage local work - there are several excellent potters at Alba de Tormes who could no doubt welcome the opportunity to supply suitable ceramics.
