Parador Ribadeo
Parador in Ribadeo occupies a traditional Galician country house on the Ribadeo estuary, a centre for sailing and holiday making, next to the coast of Asturias.
Its magnificent location, on the border between Galicia and Asturias, offers the possibility to enjoy unique views of the landscape of Galicia, the Ribadeo estuary and the little villages of the Asturias bank of the river, an extraordinary panorama which can be seen from the dining room.
A graceful, elegant seaside style predominates in the hotel interior. The rooms are welcoming and comfortable, some with splendid views. The restaurant offers traditional Galician cooking with dishes such as empanada (pie), lacon (boiled ham), seafood and local soups.
Information and reservations at Parador of Ribadeo

We stayed two nights in the Parador and had a very comfortable room with a spectacular view across the estuary. The staff were welcoming and helpful but I felt that the room service was lacking. There were only a few toiletries in the bathroom and the small extras which we have found in other Paradors were absent. The Hotel is four-star but then St. Estevo is also four star and in quite a different league!
We’ve stayed in Paradors before and this one at Ribadeo fully met our expectations. The welcome at reception was excellent and, even though we had not booked a disabled room, when the gentleman on reception saw that I was having difficulty walking, he immediately changed our room. This meant that we had a walk-in shower/wet room and disabled loo etc.
The view from the room across the estuary to Castropol were lovely and those from the restaurant too. The service in the restaurant, both in the evening and at breakfast was excellent; as was the quality of the food served.
All in all a most enjoyable stay and, God willing, we will return.
What a lovely hotel and in a wonderful location with a view across the bay. Dinner was great and a lovely buffet breakfast with a wide choice of fruit, cheese etc We wish we could have stayed longer.
Yes we stayed at Ribadeo twice – at the start and end of our holiday to Galicia.
We found the hotel charming, we had lovely rooms with good views of the Ria, the staff were good except one night when we had a very noisy neighbour to our room who must have run his shower at midnight and the girl on duty seemed unable to handle it. In the end she came down but I did the protesting to his wife. We spoke about it with your manager the next morning, The restaurant was fine for breakfasts and dinner. All in all we enjoyed the Parador at Ribadeo and as long as we can have a view of the Ria we would love to come again.
This was our first time to this area of Spain and the first time we had stayed in a Parador. We were hugely impressed both with the area and with our accommodation. The Parador was friendly and welcoming. The room was exceptional, the bed large and comfortable, the view breathtaking the bathroom and balcony extremely large and everything spotlessly clean. The food. Breakfast and dinner were delightful with amazing choice of well cooked food all beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would we stay again – absolutely. Would we recommend this Parador to our friends – we have not stopped talking about our time in Spain since our return. We are returning next year.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Parador de Ribadeo. There was a wonderful view from my room. At this parador you get great value because it is less expensive than some of the others while your stay is rewarded.
We enjoyed this parador for 2 nights in late June 2010. The room was fantastic with great views and the added attraction of some form of motorcycle meeting that was very entertaining. We dined in the main dining room once and the bar and both meals were excellent as was breakfast. The town was worth a look but we spent more time along the coast which was spectacular and very interesting. Staff were okay but not as welcoming as at some other paradors we visited.
We stayed at Parador de Ribadeo for 2 nights in late June 2009. The room was fine, but the view was less than excellent but we hadn’t paid for a superior room. The restaurant had the best breakfast of any of the paradors we stayed in on the trip & the food in the evening on the whole was also good. Staff were pleasant at all times. It is a good base for Galicia & some delightful countryside but Ribadeo itself can be missed.
We stayed here in April 2010 and we were disappointed. The whole Parador reeked of stale tobacco, even in our rooms and the carpets needed cleaning desperately. All the fixtures and fittings were dated. While the service was friendly and efficient on Reception, this was not the case in the bar or in the mediocre restaurant. This is not the best Parador to stay at and Ribadeo itself held little fascination. Until they smarten up their act, I could not wholeheartedly recommend this place.
We were very pleased with our choice of this parador as our last stop of a three week motoring holiday in France and Spain. The hotel has a superb position overlooking the river and is situated a short walk from the centre of the town – which seemed a charming slow-going place. The large room was well appointed and the balcony, looking east was a delight. Convenient car parking behind locked gates was appreciated. The restaurant was good and not quite so expensive as other places we had found in Spain. For exploration we took a drive into the Galician/Asturian mountains discovering several small villages in perfect settings. The views from these empty roads demonstrate just how beautiful this area of Spain is. We’ll come again.
This Parador was a lovely hotel to stay in- superb position and we had an excellent view from the bedroom over the Ria to Castropol. The breakfasts were sumptuous and the dinner menu offered a wide choice of interesting local dishes, and we had nice tables with views on both occasions we had dinners in.
My companion was disabled and had a little difficulty with the stairs and unfortunately was unable to enjoy the garden area for a drink that was popular with lots of guests. Otherwise everything was excellent and the staff in reception and the bar/restaurant professional in approach and friendly to us as guests though we do not speak much Spanish.
We had a great stay at Parador Ribadeo. The room was stunning overlookling the harbour with its winderful views. Our meal in the evening was quality and the service was exceptional. My only adverse comment is that although I presented my Amigoes card we were not offered our complimenary drink
We were very pleased with our stay at Parador de Ribadeo. Our room was very spacious and very comfortable with lots of storage space and a very modern and large bathroom. We had a large glass-enclosed balcony overlooking the river and the city of Castropol across the river. Breakfast was excellent with a large variety of food and very friendly service. The restaurant was also facing the water, with a beautiful view.
This is the first Parador I have ever stayed at, but I was so pleased that on my next trip to Spain, I am looking forward to staying at other Paradors.
