Parador Ribadeo

Parador in Ribadeo occupies a traditional Galician country house on the Ribadeo estuary, a centre for sailing and holiday making, next to the coast of Asturias. Parador de RibadeoIts magnificent location, on the border between Galicia and Asturias, offers the possibility to enjoy unique views of the landscape of Galicia, the Ribadeo estuary and the little villages of the Asturias bank of the river, an extraordinary panorama which can be seen from the dining room.

A graceful, elegant seaside style predominates in the hotel interior. The rooms are welcoming and comfortable, some with splendid views. The restaurant offers traditional Galician cooking with dishes such as empanada (pie), lacon (boiled ham), seafood and local soups.

We were very pleased with our choice of this parador as our last stop of a three week motoring holiday in France and Spain. The hotel has a superb position overlooking the river and is situated a short walk from the centre of the town - which seemed a charming slow-going place. The large room was well appointed and the balcony, looking east was a delight. Convenient car parking behind locked gates was appreciated. The restaurant was good and not quite so expensive as other places we had found in Spain. For exploration we took a drive into the Galician/Asturian mountains discovering several small villages in perfect settings. The views from these empty roads demonstrate just how beautiful this area of Spain is. We’ll come again.

This Parador was a lovely hotel to stay in- superb position and we had an excellent view from the bedroom over the Ria to Castropol. The breakfasts were sumptuous and the dinner menu offered a wide choice of interesting local dishes, and we had nice tables with views on both occasions we had dinners in.

My companion was disabled and had a little difficulty with the stairs and unfortunately was unable to enjoy the garden area for a drink that was popular with lots of guests. Otherwise everything was excellent and the staff in reception and the bar/restaurant professional in approach and friendly to us as guests though we do not speak much Spanish.

We had a great stay at Parador Ribadeo. The room was stunning overlookling the harbour with its winderful views. Our meal in the evening was quality and the service was exceptional. My only adverse comment is that although I presented my Amigoes card we were not offered our complimenary drink

We were very pleased with our stay at Parador de Ribadeo. Our room was very spacious and very comfortable with lots of storage space and a very modern and large bathroom. We had a large glass-enclosed balcony overlooking the river and the city of Castropol across the river. Breakfast was excellent with a large variety of food and very friendly service. The restaurant was also facing the water, with a beautiful view.
This is the first Parador I have ever stayed at, but I was so pleased that on my next trip to Spain, I am looking forward to staying at other Paradors.
