The room was a good size and the hotel was well equiped with good service. However, we pressed on and came to the beautiful village of Limpias, where we had lunch before moving to the parador. The place a beautfilu and peaceful (just what is needed after the crossing) and the (superior) room was spacious and comfortably, if sparesely, furnished. Dinner was excellent. We could only stay one night, but as an introduction to the paradors of Spain, this cold not have been better ... I brought my road bike along, and found a great ride that took me over a small hill and into the next valley to the west. If I had more time, I could have spent all day cycling in the area. The location is very convenient to the Basque villages in the surrounding mountains, as well as to the spectacular Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. The staff were very helpful and service in the restaurant was attentive. I would highly recommend Limpias to anyone looking for a terrific Parador in northern Spain. This was our first parador from Santander on our trip of many paradores. We were put into the annexe but the rooms were large and well appointed. We were very happy to find a vegetarian menu and enjoyed the food and the staff were all helpful. We managed to travel by public transport to Bilbao and the amazing Guggenheim. The tickets were booked at the reception desk but sadly we did not book our bus tickets from Lareda and had to wait for another bus. The directions were very confusing unless you were coming from Madrid which we were not. We were extremely pleased with the grounds, our room and the meals. The funrinshings were fantastic. We have and will continue to stay at paradores As we find them to be of great historical and artistic interests, coupled with outstanding hospitality and food. it took us quite a while to find the Paradore Limias but we were pleased when we finally found it. We only stayed one night but it was very enjoyable. Having never stayed in a paradore before I am unable to compare it with others but I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the food was very good. Limpias has a couple of very friendly bars and there is a lovely walk along the river/estuary. We had a lovely room with a large balcony overlooking a formal garden.
