Parador Limpias

The Parador de Limpias is located on the Eguilor Palace estate, which was the summer headquarters of the Council of Alfonso XIII. The Palace is composed of a great cubic block with four pseudo-towers on each corner of the same height as the main building. Parador de Limpias
Constructed in a rustic style, notable features include the masonry of its walls which contrasts with the corner ashlars and above all the large balconies and a historicist monumental gate with a modernist touch.

The estate has diverse and catalogued woodland (some of the specimens have been given World Heritage status) located in an area of great ecological wealth. The Hotel has all the services expected of an establishment of this category with the added value of its extensive gardens (55,000 m2), a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, and tennis and paddle courts.

In addition it has ideal facilities for the hosting of all kinds of banquets, social gatherings and business conventions.

it took us quite a while to find the Paradore Limias but we were pleased when we finally found it. The directions were very confusing unless you were coming from Madrid which we were not. We were extremely pleased with the grounds, our room and the meals. The funrinshings were fantastic. We have and will continue to stay at paradores As we find them to be of great historical and artistic interests, coupled with outstanding hospitality and food.

We had a lovely room with a large balcony overlooking a formal garden. We only stayed one night but it was very enjoyable. Having never stayed in a paradore before I am unable to compare it with others but I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the food was very good. Limpias has a couple of very friendly bars and there is a lovely walk along the river/estuary.

We first discovered Parador Limpias in 2008 and we enjoyed our short stay so much that we returned in September 2009 for the best part of a week. The staff are very pleasant and most helpful and the rooms are extremely comfortable. The Parador is ideally situated as a stop en route to Bilbao ( for the ferry ) - but is also close to the resort of Laredo and the fascinating fishing port of Castro-Urdiales, with its excellent fish restaurants overlooking the harbour.

We stayed for 2 nights in October 2009. The food was first rate and the staff were all incredibly friendly. Our suite was massive and very comfortable.

Whilst the interior decor and main building were tastefully restored and beautifully furnished, we were very disappointed with the flat roofed exterior extensions on either side of the original building, which detracted from its beauty. There are damp problems on these extensions which had also come through by the windows in our bedroom. That said, superb bathroom and the dinner was excellent.

We started our holiday in the parador of Limpias, it was excellent, nice, homefeeling and the best way to start our trip through Spain by using Paradors. It was one of the best holidays we have had in years and the hospitality of your crew in all the paradors we have visited gave a very good feeling but we started in your parador and you were one of the best.
Thank you again for that feeling.

This was the best Paradore we stayed in during our holiday, in terms of staff who were friendly and helpful and smiled a lot. They made us feel very welcome.

The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious - the waitress said the chef was either a trainee or just out of catering college. He is to be congratulated. The wait of 20 minutes (we were warned) for the lamb was worth it.

The standard of this Paradore should be held up as an example to others and should set the standard. I would recommend it.

We especially loved the surrounding forest and setting and exploring the estuary. This is a great addition to the Paradores with proximity to the sea, mountains and Bilbao. I would appreciate knowing more about the manor and the history of the town… the staff was eager to offer information about the surrounding area and I greatly appreciated that. Thanks.

The service, the staff here are the most accomdating of any hotel I have ever stayed in. Every Parador give great service but without writing an essay I can only say if I was ever in trouble in Spain here is where I would head for….

As indicated above, we returned to Limpias on our way back to our home in Andalucia in early April. We were again welcomed most charmingly and this time upgraded to a suite! We enjoyed a drink in the bar and taught the barman how to make a Kir.
Dinner was as before excellent, and in the morning the hard-pressed staff managed to serve us breakfast at the same time as coping with a group of 84 touring Canadians! Full marks, Parador Limpias!

After some difficulty in finding the Parador, we greatly enjoyed our stay. We were greeted personally by the charming manager who insisted on opening the garage so that we could put our car away. As there were few guests in early February, we were upgraded to a better room which we found delightful with garden views.
The restaurant was first-class with a very interesting menu
We had to leave early in the morning to catch our boat from Bilbao and a full breakfast was nevertheless available.
We are returning to the Limpias Parador next week!
