Parador La Granja

The Parador de La Granja is living proof of the rich architectural legacy of the Royal Site. It is composed by two buildings. The Casa de los Infantes, constructed in the 18th century by Charles III to house Princes Gabriel and Antonio and the Cuartel General de la Guardia de Corps which houses a modern Parador de La GranjaConference and Convention Centre. The Parador is just 55 minutes away from Madrid.

This exclusive setting has 16 meeting halls of different capacities, reaching capacities of more than 600 people. In addition, it is equipped with a full set of state-of-the-art technical and audiovisual devices.

It is worth emphasizing the monumental and natural setting in which it is to be found, just 11 km. from Segovia, a World Heritage City in the heart of the Guadarrama Mountains.

I visited The Parador at La Granja for the first time in July, and I was very impressed by the accommodation, cuisine and the efficient and helpful staff. I have experienced 26 Paradores across Spain and have been very pleased with the general standard. I find the Golden Days package a very good value.
La Granja is a very interesting town and I enjoyed the visit o the Royal Palace and the Glass factory and Museum.

Your reception on arrival: rather cool, not very welcoming, not interested in the guests, not very helpful. Disappointing.
The bedroom: very good amenities, very comfortable.
The view from your room: not special but pleasant.
    The public rooms: excellent.
    The restaurant: excellent.
    Any noise: no problems.
The location of the hotel: wonderful.
    Proximity to a town: perfect.
Any places visited near the hotel: the La Granja Royal Palace; the Royal crystal factory. Very nice.

In comparison to the other three hotels we stayed in,whilst in Spain. Our stay was not memorable enough to want to repeat the experience. We had opted for the golden-years package and the information supplied was not sufficient.Pool-side it was difficult to discern the method of collection/disposal of towels[guy sat on wall!].It was considered “difficult” to have a drink[even coffee]outside. The restaurant staff were, however, of a very high standard[very nice and helpful]-unfortunately the food did not live up to what it was billed as!
The first contact at reception whilst relatively efficient was not as good as it should be-greetings etc.even though my wife speaks Spanish fluently and I can understand most of what is said and have basic communication skills in Spanish. To sum up you have an excellent product let down by detail and your pricing structure should be more competitive.
