Comments Parador La Gomera

The Parador La Gomera, with typical island architecture, invites its guests to enjoy its heavenly setting and unbeatable ocean views with the island of Tenerife and the Teide in the background. Parador of La GomeraThe hotel’s interior is filled with maritime references and navigational instruments in memory of Columbus’s ships, which set sail for the Americas from the island.

In the function rooms the furniture combines Castilian and Isabelline styles, while retaining a very personal air of the Canary Islands which is elegant and distinguished. The cosy rooms of the hotel, the swimming pool and the garden, exuberant and abundant in subtropical species, are some of the attractions which complete the interior. The gastronomic offering takes the form of the Gomera fish casserole, stuffed rabbit loins and watercress soup.

Below are some comments of guests who recently stayed in Parador La Gomera.

My husband and I had a wonderful week at the Parador La Gomera in December, and will probably go back for two weeks in December this year! We needed to relax for a week and the Parador is a perfect place to go. It was relaxing, peaceful and wonderful.

Everyone working at the Parador was friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean with a wonderful outdoor area where we could sit and relax in the evening while the sun was setting. No noicy guests either!

And it’s not too far to walk down to town either. There are some good restaurants wth great low priced food and wine. Good atmosphere.

We also enjoyed really good gourmet food at the hotel! And the breakfast is very good indeed! Lots of choices!

The pool area is great too. We managed to read two books each and went home really relaxed and ready for a week of work before Christmas.
    Can’t wait unthil next December!

Four of us stayed at the Parador La Gomera from 20th – 25th November.
Needless to say our reception was really friendly, with the receptionist personally taking us to our room. Each room, on the first floor was beatifully furnished with a balcony from which one could relax and enjoy the marvellous views.

We only ate dinner in the hotel on the day we arrived, but in every respect that was an excellent evening, with very good ffod and attentive staff. All the public rooms are beautifully furnished with endless places to relax.

Outside the gardens are a lovely with a mass of local plants. A short stroll takes you to the pool, where there is a bar and opportunity to have lunch. Alas we all felt that the water in the pool was to put it mildly very cold !!.

As usual we chose to eat in town, a short taxi drive away. Taxis are available all the time via reception. In the City there are numerous small restaurants all of which we would be really happy to re-visit.

Again via the Hotel we hired a car to explore the Island. The road are narrow and very winding, but no one is in a hurry ! We would recommend a day or two meandering, relaxing and enjoying La Gomera.

In almost every respect we thought the Hotel and Staff quite excellent. Perhaps an improvement could be made by providing Coffee/Tea making facilities in the room….and Bathrobes would be nice… but then perhaps we are just fussy !!.

We really would recommend both the Hotel and La Gomerra

We stayed for a week at the beginning of September; it was a truly wonderful experience.
Fantastic room with sea view. Fantastic breakfast.
We had dinner in the restaurant twice – excellent.
We struggled to tear ourselves away from the pool which overlooks the cliff and has wonderful views of the harbour and out to sea if looking over the wall; if I had one comment, it would be that the wall really should be replaced by a glass wall – this would effectively make the pool an infinity pool!

    We will be back.

With a whole island to explore, the temptation is to spend too much time in this lovely bolt-hole. Great cliff-top views, fascinating and large garden to spend time in, and a good (though rather cold) pool. Staff were friendly and helpful, our garden room was first class. Food is also of the highest quality, though we found the dinner menu a little limited for choice (and it didn’t change all week). Tea and coffee facilities in room would be good, too. If you like old-fashioned and traditional (and we do) this hotel is fantastic.

Superb location with fabulous views and interesting garden.
    Comfortable, stylish and quiet room
More and better signs in San Sebastian would make it easier to locate when arriving for the first time.
Food good but not very imaginative; several Canarian restaurants are better.
    Would happily stay again.

We stayed one night in November 2012 on our way to La Gomera. The parador was wonderful – elegantly furnished rooms and bathrooms with wonderful sea views from its clifftop perch. Peaceful and tranquil surroundings with lots of little places to sit in the grounds.
The food at dinner was beautifully cooked and presented with typical Canarian specialities even if service a little chaotic!
We went on a recommendation from friends and would heartily pass this on-it’s lovely!

We stayed 2 night in July. very pleasant all in all. Staff very polite and helpful. Garden beautiful and well kept. only critical comments are that the menu is quite limited and that it is not possible to get the local beer – Dorada. And then the bathrooms sooner or later – well best sooner – needs to be upgraded. For elderly persons the bathtubs are life threatening in comparison to the modern shower cabins.

But still a very friendly and pleasant stay. But not cheap in any way

As you will see above, we stayed in November 2009, and had such a lovely time that we returned in April this year, 2011. We were very, very disappointed. We had been given the same suite as last time, unfortunately it smelled so badly of sewage, that we had to be moved to a different room. Our polite complaints to the manageress, produced the reply that she knew about the smell! We found here very dismissive of our complaint, to the point of rudeness. This beautiful hotel needs a change of management, or a management who cares.

Stayed for 2 nights in April, beautiful hotel in an amazing location on top of a cliff! Room was lovely with separate sitting room and huge balcony with views of Tenerife and Mt. Teide (room 233 I think).

Very quiet (except for an enthusiastic cockerill!) and wonderful building generally – gardens full of interesting plants and little paths and secluded seating areas. Pool looked very nice although didn’t actually use it as weather was not so good. However, even in the rain the lovely courtyard made an excellent place to enjoy a drink and read a book. Staff very friendly (even helped me with my Spanish) and food very good.

One comment would be that better driving instructions are needed from the port up to the hotel – we did a few laps of the town before finding our way through the one way system and up the cliff. However, all in all a very relaxing and pleasant stay and one of the best hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in.

    Christmas 2010
Loved it. Hotel, location, bedroom, public rooms, restaurant, pool, views, gardens, staff, San Sebastian, bus and ferry rides ( note that if going anywhere on the bus and back on the ferry you need to take a passport for the ferry although a driving licence seemed to do the trick), walks, local restuarants and bars all magic.

This was our second visit and not the last.

We had a wonderfult stay in November 2010, – 6 nights. We were lucky to get a room with sea view and terrace and the room and everything else was great. The restaurant was good, but the service was varying, a couple of the breakfasts we didn’t get coffee until the rest of the meal was almost finished.
We would love to come back, but are reluctant since it’s not possible to reserve a room with sea-view or balcony/terrace. As we come all the way from Norway and spend a lot of money on just getting there, we don’t want to “gamble” on what kind of room we will get. We would be happy to pay a higher price if a special room could be guaranteed, – if this is changed we promise to come back real soon!

We had a lovely time, loved the Parador,
    its location and friendly staff.

A fabulous position perched on the cliff, with lovely views both from our room and the beautiful gardens. A calm, peaceful atmosphere.
The welcome was warm and the staff very helpful and friendly.
We thought the restaurant had an interesting and well presented menu and the meals were plentiful and very tasty.
Our only thought is that given the distance/steepness from the town a shuttle service of some kind may be welcomed by less fit guests.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Paradore. Everything about the stay was perfect from the warm welcome we received upon arrival to our fantastic room and the beautiful grounds. We will definitely be back for more excercise ( we all loved the walk to and from the town ) and to see the parrot which by the end of our stay could do a perfect impression of our little girl!
Thank you everyone at the Parador for making our stay perfect.

We stayed 6 nights in November 2009 – we had a beautiful suite with stunning views across to Tenerife. The staff were always charming and helpful.

We enjoyed some lovely meals in the dining-room, breakfast was excellent, and we found the waiters/waitresses, to be very friendly and eager to please.

As we didn’t use the pool, we cant comment, but the surrounding gardens are very well looked after, and there were plenty of quiet places to sit.

    Hopefully, we will return….

We had an excellent stay during six nights in a very peaceful environment and in a cosy room. Beautiful garden and magnificent swimmingpool.
The staff was always very helpfull.
    Food and wine were excellent.
In my opinion breakfast (17,00 EUR pp) is too expensive.
Toilet should be separated of bathroom.
Tip: a glass of fresh water should be offered on arrival at the pool, free of charge.

We stayed 3 nights in April and would love to return! The rooms are generous and the whole place is really charming in a robust ,vintage, Spanish way. The food is down to earth, yet delicious, and the breakfast is fit for kings! There is only one thing that needs fixing. The bar must raise its standard, so that they can serve a proper drink before dinner. When the bartender has had some training, we will be back to enjoy this wonderful place!

Swimming pool fantastic size, but too cold.
Room absolutely lovely, but would be nice to have coffee and tea.
Service in restaurant really dreadful – really let down the rest of our stay

We had one night at the Parador, and enjoyed its fine location with views above the town and port, the tranquil gardens, large pool and public rooms.

The room and especially bathroom was a good as expected, but I was disappointed not to be given a room with a balcony, as there were many of these free. If we had been staying longer I would have asked to move, but feel that it should be policy to allocate balcony or terrece rooms whils these were available, or, even better, to give guests a choice when they arrive.

Some attempt to warm up the water in the pool, perhaps with solar panels, would have been appreciated.

This is the only Parador we have stayed in but when time permits it will not be the last
For one stressed out Sales Manager this is the ultimate chillout joint and we love it
The peace, the garden, the views, the isolation, the food, the staff all brilliant
Only one critisism – no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms
Understood that when in Rome etc. etc. but us Northern Europeans do like our instant fix and do not want to jump through hoops to get it at “hotel prices”
