Parador Gredos
The Sierra de Gredos has housed this stone building since 1928, the first Parador, surrounded by crystalline waters, rough rocks and green pine forests.
The location in Alto del Risquillo is a privileged vantage point over the Valle del Tormes, the Gredos massif and the Piedrahita and Bejar sierras, making it a real excursion centre.
The hotel’s tough stone walls hide an interior with standout comfortable rooms, some with terrace. Classical wood reigns in the dining room, library and lounges. The presence of granite columns and the furnishing provide the space with a traditional Castilian style. The quality of the meat and local vegetables and pulses – such as the famed Barco beans – make for a rich cuisine of roasts and comfort soups and stews.
Information and reservations at Parador of Gredos

Our first stay in one of the famed Paradores was a great experience. A wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting, very comfortable, good food and friendly staff. Unfortunately we only stayed one night but would certainly come back to Gredos as it is a very beautiful part of Spain.
Our only complaint was the lack of air conditioning & being housed on the top floor made it an uncomfortable night. We did notice the floors below were cooler, so choose these if you visit in the height of Summer.
We enjoyed our visit at the Gredos parador . Staff was very welcoming and helpfull .
A wonderfull building , with respect to the old architecture
and furniture ( eg nice authentic doors)
Breakfast and dinner was OK.
Rooms were confortable and clean .
We did a very nice mountain stroll in the neighbourhood accompagned by some goats .
This was our first stay at a Paradore and we highly praise Gredos Paradore. Finding it couldn’t have been easier! (literally on the main road)! The atmosphere throughout the public areas of the Paradore, in different sitting rooms and views , keep an authentic feeling of an almost hundred year old hunting lodge. The bedroom had amenities and modern facilities and the bed was comfortable. There was no noise to disturb us and the staff was pleasant. The Gredos platform was close by and quite impressive as was the entire area. We were overwhelmed with the beauty of the mountains, with blooming yellow fiorino and stunned by their fabulous aroma!
I have stayed in many different Paradores over the years and found them to vary greatly. I have to say that Gredos would be one of my favourites, fabulous drive through stunning scenery to get there. Staff here were very welcoming and friendly (unlike some other Paradores) we had nice room with balcony and great views of the Gredos mountains. Walking straight from the hotel through the woods, many more walks locally. Only stayed 2 days but will stay longer on next visit to Spain.
I cannot recommend this highly enough. So very worth the beautiful drive up the hill. I would gladly be walking the nearby trails, swimming the swimming holes right NOW! The Light of Ávila is only accentuated here.
