Parador Granada

Spend a night at the site of the Alhambra, among gardens and fountains which recall a past where the Arabian merged with the Christian. This is the exclusive opportunity the Parador in Granada affords us, Parador de Granadaan ancient convent built on the orders of the Catholic Monarchs on top of a Nazrid palace, of which important remains are still conserved, such as the Nazrid Hall. This monumental complex offers the guest peaceful walks around the area and the city, while the building itself and its gardens invite you to discover a fantasy-like interior.

Numerous works of art and exceptional pieces of furniture decorate the Cloister and the interior rooms. In the dining room or in the coolness of the summer terrace, with exceptional views of the Generalife, Andalusian gazpacho, Granada-style beans and Santa Fe pastries are served.

Having travelled from Singapore, I stayed with my wife and three children for one night in mid July before moving on to the Sierra de Ronda for a longer break. It was 22 years since my last visit to the Alhambra and the beguiling charm, the history and the magnificent architecture didn’t disappoint. The location and staff of the Parador were first class, and reception, accomodation and restaurant fulfilled every expectation. Our dinner in the cool evening shade of the terraza with views over the Generalife was memorable, with delicious food, fine wine and attentive service. Breakfast was also fully up to scratch, with the churros & chocolate proving a winner with the kids. A swimming pool would have topped out the Parador for my 18 year old daughter, and surely would have persuaded us to stay more nights. Expensive, but no more so than other worldclass hotels in iconic locations.

  3. Dr Michael A. Chamberlain says:

Our stay at the Parador Granada was sublime ! Excellent room, views and terrace setting for dinner overlooking the General Life is spectacular. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Would recommend it (and have done) to all !

Our visit to the Alhambra was topped ~ off by being to able to stay two night in the Parador. Good driving directions and steady navigation are important for the last mile or so! Expensive but value for money because of the location, convenient and secure parking, excellent accommodation. Reception was excellent, friendly and helpful as were all the staff that we encountered ~ as everywhere we’ve been, some local language is always useful in breaking down barriers! Our room/suite was superb and our bedroom turret gave 360 degree views. We had no problems with service although nobody could avoid noticing another English couple causing embarrassment with what is too often our national ignorance and arrogance when abroad! Food was OK but didn’t really live up to the high promise of the menu blurb or our expectations. However, the gin and tonics were massive! Breakfast was adequate only. The courtyard and terrace were great for relaxing and meeting new friends. They’ve done a generally superb job of integrating a modern hotel environment in a historic building. There was some sort of large scale corporate event on the upper terrace on one evening, but we weren’t disturbed. This and the archeological dig were all part of the local colour. The Alhambra is one of life’s ‘must-see’s” and we were lucky with sunshine but moderate heat – being on-site and able to phase visits and walks was a major asset. Would certainly recommend and return if the opportunity presents itself!

  5. Bob and Penny White says:

If you want to see the Alhambra, this is the place to stay. Immerse yourself in this style, the atmosphere and enjoy the experience of staying in the middle of a truly exceptional historic site. We stayed here for two nights in May, I had visited the Alhambra over 30 years ago and promised myself to return and stay there, and feel very fortunate to have been able to do so.
We had booked to visit the Nasrid Palaces at 8.30am, when the gates open, and I would highly recommend anyone doing the same before the tour parties arrive. As my husband said, everyone walks around with smiles on their faces!
We arrived from Cordoba at midday and found our way and were directed to the secure parking area. Reception was very professional and pleasant and we headed to our room, No 212.
This turned out to be the smallest room of our trip, which was a little surprising as we had booked for a ‘Superior’ room, however it had all manner of conveniences and was extremely tastefully made over. The bathroom also was tiny in comparison with others, but again had everything we required including free wifi. To make up for anything, we had the most stunning view over gardens to the Generalife from our bedroom.
The public rooms, including quiet cloisters, were a mixture of ancient and ultra modern, all extremely stylish.
We had dinner on our first night in the restaurant, which turned out to be the best Parador dinner of our trip. Breakfast was also served there, though we could (and did) eat on the terrace. Magical.
We used the terrace for drinks and also lunch, service was a bit slow as seems to be the case with daytime bar service in paradores we have found.
There was an archaological dig going on at the rear of the building.
There was no noise that we were aware of, we slept extremely well.
Location of the hotel is world class, if you can afford it go, if you can’t, save up and go. Early booking is advisable.
As well as the Alhambra which is a must, on our first afternoon afer arriving, we visited Granada itself, we visited the Cathedral and Chapel to see Frederick and Isabella’s tomb. While awaiting the Cathedral’s afternoon openng hours we took a bus ride around town, but cannot necessarily recommend that or any other sites in Granada.

  6. May Lee says:

Stayed one night at the Parador and enjoyed it. My room oozed moorish charm without compromising on 5-star luxuries. I guess if I had any complaints at all it would be that the staff were slow to be helpful and harried as usual. I loved the spa shower with the 4 extra jets and the triple-layered windows. Wakling up to birdsong and a heady mix of aromas in the Alhambra was a defining moment. At night it is still and quiet except for the music of water bubbling somewhere. The buffet breakfast was one of the best of this holiday. After a late night out the taxi was able to drop me off right at the door of the Parador (I wasn’t sure about access after hours but it turned out fine). I will defnitely return.

  7. Sue Arnold says:

I’ve been to both Granada and the Alhambra several times, but it was the first time we had stayed in a parador. Because of flight trouble we arrived very late but it was almost worth it, as it was magic to wend our way in the dark up towards the Alhambra. Fabulous location and a great sense of of tranquillity in the hotel area compared with the Alhambra site itself. The older parts of the hotel building are beautiful. Good rooms, helpful staff on reception and breakfast was good,. Found the bar meal we had in the evening pricey with very average food and very slow, unenthusiastic service. However we thoroughly enjoyed our stay – it was the big treat we hoped it would be.

  8. Jean Hughes says:

My husband and I had enjoyed a lovely trip round the Alhambra. We decided to have a tuna and asparagus salad each for lunch at the Parador in the Alhambra grounds. Both salads served consisted mainly of sad salad leaves, grated carrot, half a greyish hard-boiled egg, 3 large wet and limp asparagus stalks (that seemed to have come from a tin) and a hard crusted knob of tuna. We had to dress the salad ourselves from standard bottles of vinegar and oil. We paid a total of 24 euros for this experience. I have had much better salads from McDonalds for far less money. Our lunch experience completely spoilt our day and we will have to seriously consider whether using a parador on another occasion will be worthwhile.

  9. Liz says:

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Parador de Grenada. The service at the front desk was perfect, and our room overlooking Generalife was fab. We opted to eat dinner in town and not on the premises, partly b/c the dining room ambiance seemed fairly lacking for the price, and we don’t mind paying for a nice dinner, but decided to do the tapas thing down the hill in town and that was great. My only concern at the Parador was our lunch on the terrace…the service was just horrible. They should not make it so hard to spend your money!!!

  10. J.T. says:

It was a wonderful experience – we loved all of it , the room, staff and
the food was fabulous – thanks you

  11. E.S. says:

Our visit to Granada was perfect in every way

  12. Adriana van den A says:

As a retired couple we stayed 3 nights in the Parador of Granada and it was in all aspects a wonderfull experience. The staff was very kindly, the room was spatious, quiet and very clean, with a beauttful view at the Generallife and surroundings. The only little minus I think, is the small size of the bathroom, in comparison by the rest of the room. But everything is in it, bath, shower, toilet and bidet. Breakfast and diner was excellent, some dishes were very special and the service was very pleasant.
We have the intention to come back, that is sure!

  13. P Welsh says:

Location-wise, this Parador surely cannot be beaten. Right at the heart of the Alhambra complex, we felt a real connection to the Alhambra’s history (indeed I was even inspired to buy a copy of Washington Irving’s Tales of the Alhambra!). The views from the Parador terrace of the Generaliffe gardens are quite stunning.

The Parador organised for us to join a tour of the Alhambra which was well worth it. The English-speaking guide was excellent and made the whole history come to life.

Despite the huge number of people (we were there at Easter-probably their busiest time of the year) the Parador retained a sense of calm and tranquillity.

We ate in the Parador restaurant on one of the evenings which was far superior and much cheaper than a highly recommended restaurant in town. The breakfast in this Parador, as we have found in all of the Paradores we visited, was excellent with a really varied selection.

For lunch, the Plaza Major in Granada is a great option, lots of restaurants serving tapas throughout the afternoon. It is a very comfortable walk down the hill to the Plaza, but not so easy on the way back!!

  14. Kathleen Hart says:

My daughter and I spent one night at the Parador de San Francisco at the Alhambra in mid-March 2010. It was the most magical, spectacular and memorable night of our whole 9-day trip to Spain. The front desk staff was most helpful. The room was bigger than most in Spain, the beds were comfortable, the view of the garden was bucolic and the bathroom was huge & modern & fantastic ! We ate both breakfast & dinner at the Parador and I thought the food was wonderful. We really did not want to leave – and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone heading for Grenada. It was not cheap, but it was worth every penny !

  15. lorna houston says:

The best thing I can say is that we wished we had stayed two nights and that we would return anytime. The reception received was exemplary, the staff from the reception ,room attendants to restaurant employees was attentive ,courteous and efficient. The food was good and in my opinion taking everything into account from the above to location .convenience parking the price charged was very very reasonable. give the staff a large round of applause from my husband and I

  16. Ann Moriyama says:

As a retired couple a night at the Parador San Francisco in early February 2010 was meant to be the highlight of the 6 hotels we booked via the internet in Granada and Andalucia. The cheapest hotel cost us Euro 30 per night: we had a much larger room in that one and the welcome was friendly and human compared to that at the Parador where those on the desk were distracted and busy. We arrived early at the Parador so had a late breakfast the cost of which was horrendous. Although the breakfast buffet was extensive it was hardly any better than another place we stayed for Euros 50 B & B. Dinner was good but cost considerably more than that at a very excellent Chinese restaurant down town. We were given a room at the end of the ground floor, which looked out on a ‘dead’ pond: no doubt our memory is partly coloured by the very cold and wet weather whilst we were in Granada. We reiterate others comments about the impractical style of the wash basin but were surprised also that in so expensive a hotel there was not a bath in addition to the fancy shower.
Our main disappointment was that after all the advertising of the historic aspects of this Parador the interior is just like any other expensive modern place, devoid of its history and with no information about the interior when it was a religious house or about the ruins in the garden. Two chocolates beside the bed did not make up for what this Parador lacks in atmosphere. We will not be going there again.

  17. Gregory Caple says:

Eighteen years ago, when we were younger and broke we wandered through the Granada Parador and were enchanted by the serenity of the convent and gardens. We made it back to southern Spain in February 2010 and this time walked the Alhambra after dark from our Parador sanctuary.

This parador is small, delightful, well appointed and our meals were sublime. The staff were without exception helpful and upbeat.

If you are driving, the route into the Alhambra is not for the faint of heart, try online directions. This hotel is arguably one of the most unique in Spain

  18. marty perlmutar says:

Spectacular location, lovely hotel, but unjustifiable price even with the view. I would recommend giving other hotels a chance to any friends who would ask, because of the price.

PS Dumb sink with no place for toiletries, but interesting.

  19. Judy Watson says:

We stayed four nights and cannot fault the hotel. The staff were delightful, food delicious, and despite staying with three children under two our party of 9 were made to feel exceptionally welcome. Others have said it is expensive, but I don’t regard a dinner menu at €33 with a huge choice as expensive, given the location and high standard or the Parador. It was a very successful blend of the old convent building with modern accommodation, and the site is unbeatable.

  20. P. and D. Beauchamp says:

Hello, in november 2009, we were in Parador de Grenada, it was a dream
    and we do it, wunderfull
all was perfect, people of the hotel, reception, bedroom, view,
restaurant, in the middle of the Alhambra : the must

may be, one day we shall come back again
    thanks

  21. Bonnie and Robert says:

We stayed at the Alhambra Parador for 2 nights in November. It couldn’t have been a better experience – we hated to leave! – and have warmly recommended it many times over. We took advantage of the “Golden Days” offer and that’s a pretty accurate description! Perfect weather and lack of crowds added to our pleasure, no doubt, but the Parador is gorgeous and staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful. The view of the Generalife from our room over the terrace allowed us to fully appreciate the vividness of the autumn colour in sunlight each morning.
We had breakfast and dinner “in-house” and enjoyed both thoroughly – generous portions and prompt service. The only disappointment/shock was the price of drinks at the bar – £10 for an ordinary gin-and-tonic and a plain tonic? Maybe we just don’t get out much…
This was our first adventure with Paradores and we hope to repeat the experience (in Seville and Cordoba) as soon as we are able.

  22. patrick d. doherty says:

We stayed three days in this Paradore. The price was high but this is an experience that is unique. The staff was excellent and the room was great but it is the location inside Alhambra that makes this Paradore an experience you will not forget.

  23. Paul and Marilyn says:

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alhambra. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. The restaurant was first-rate, the food tasty and well prepared. Of course it was nice to be in the middle of this unusual place and not have to queue for tickets! If there is a criticism, it would be the odd configuration of the bathroom…virtually no counter space and an oversized sink with two faucets.

Was it expensive? We don’t think so. One should look beyond the tariff and consider the location, the charm, and history. The knowledge and pleasure derived and the magnificant photos we took will endure long after the cost is forgotten.

    Cordially,

  24. Sarah & Gerard KilBride says:

Our stay was magical! Our room was very comfortable and tastefully modern with a lovely bathroom and a view of the Parador’s sun terrace. The rest of the parador was delightful and has been decorated with a great mix of traditional and contemporary. The evenings were wonderfully serene after all the visitors go; sitting on the ramparts looking at the stars and enjoying the Parador’s gardens and their great views. You can enjoy night visits of the Alhambra with tickets. The staff were all helpful, warm & discreet. The food in the restaurant & bar was delicious. We have wanted to stay here for a long time & were not disappointed in any way! However…..Finding the parador was perhaps one of the most stressful events in a very long time- after driving up from Malaga, we could have done with some signposting especially at the final roundabout (it is the VERY last right exit- after the car park barrier).

  25. Sue Byrne says:

Loved the Parador – well worth the price. The only drawback was the restaurant. We ate there on our first night and it was just awful. Management were not terribly concerned by our complaints. Breakfast was very good, but we walked up the hill for dinner the following night.

  26. Ned Hopkins says:

The hotel is beautiful and luixurious. Our room (109) was the last one available when we made our reservation — five months in advance of our stay. It had no view, but was large and well furnished with safe and mini-bar, table and chairs, and a large array of toiletries.

Dinner was close to gourmet quality. Breakfast was superb, but also very expensive: €17,76 (US$26.64) per person.

The staff was friendly and helpful, storing our bags after we’d checked out and calling a taxi when we were ready to depart.

The parador is very convenient to the sites, being just steps away from the entrance to the Generalife and only a short walk from that to the Nasrid palaces.

The one disadvantage is that the ticket office is a long walk — 20-30 minutes one way, with the climb back uphill being rather arduous.

  27. Yukuo Takahashi says:

The location and rooms are nice, but services were terrible. The front staff were like bureaucrats. They will do the minimum, but no more than that. They did not seem to be interested to make your stay more comfortable. Unfortunately, it is not surprising as the parador can attract guests due to its excellent location despite their bad service and it is hard to anticipate any change in that genre. I will rate the parador C-.

  28. Brian and Marion MacDonald says:

We had a fantastic time at the Granada Parador and indeed at all the other paradors we stayed at during this trip (Carmona, Toledo and Cordoba). Service was great, the staff were both friendly and helpful and we found the rooms were to a high standard and more importantly consistent accross all paradors. We will be back -

  29. JESUSA BARGAS says:

WE LOVED THE PARADOR AT GRANADA. IT IS AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL. THE STAFF WAS ALSO HELPFUL.

    THANK YOU
    JESUSA BARGAS

  30. Sally says:

Ever since I studied landscape architecture in California and learned the history of the Alhambra, I wanted to be able to experience the last of the Moorish strongholds in Spain in person. My party and I had reservations at the Parador for two nights and I want to stress that our stay at the Parador Granada was one of the high points of our two week trip.
True, it is expensive. It is also first class. The rooms are beautifully appointed and clean. The staff is extremely helpful. The desk clerk persuaded us to have a light snack when we checked in so we could experience Spanish classical guitar played from 9:00 p.m. through 10 p.m. during the dinner service. It was lovely and the food was excellent.
The view from my room was across a part of the Alhambra, lit at night.
The hotel also arranged for our party to join a tour group of the Alhambra and the Generalife after breakfast. The breakfast was served buffet style and consisted of a large variety of food, also excellent. I would highly recommend the tour that was broken into English and Spanish-speaking groups.
As noted previously, the Parador de Granada is expensive, so make sure you understand the cost before you commit. I thought the cost was worth the experience.

  31. Frank says:

The Parador of Granada is one of many paradores throughout Spain, and I was lucky enough to visit and spent time in many of them. The staff in them all is fantastic and hard workers. With the San Francisco Parador I was a little bit surprise the way I was treated.
I spent one night in the parador this Summer. I had no reservation but I told them I had made it trough the internet. They accepted me and gave me a very high price, when I didn’t accept the receptionist said: ” Let me check with the manager” The price was cut in half. (I wasn’t happy about this because Paradores in Spain ussually have a price, some more than others, but not out of control.)
One thing I love about Paradores is the breakfast, and ussually is included. Not in the Parador de San Francisco, Is more expensive than having breakfast in New York’s top.
Any way visit Granada, make plans first, get familiar with the prices.

  32. R & S Perry says:

We stayed in the Alhambra Parador for two nights, because we were attending a concert-opera performance in the Carlos V Palacio, as part of the Granada festival. We thought staying at the the Parador would make all our transitions from sighteseeing to concert-going really easy. In fact, staying at the Parador made the weekend really really special. We were able to make an early start touring the Alhambra, and walk back from the concert at 2.00 am without any taxi or bus hassle. The rooms were extremely modern, gorgeous and comfortable, with luxurious and stylish bathrooms. The public rooms were lovely, with breakfast on the terrace a particular favorite – the local specialities on the breakfast buffet were a real treat. We asked for dinner on the terrace before our concert, were given a great table, unbeatable views, charming service, super food and background music provided by a marvellous subtle guitarist. Its FAR from cheap! But we thought our two nights were well worth the price.

  33. P.H. says:

We loved Spain, and especially the experience of staying at the Parador
San Francisco in Granada. The reception staff were cordial and extremely
helpful in storing our luggage and calling a cab. The room
was outstanding with exceptional views of Generalife, the common areas
romantic and inspiring, the terrace restaurant a lovely retreat after
a day of sightseeing. The breakfast choices were varied and beautifully
prepared. The only complaint was the noise next door at
the Generalife Stage which kept us awake most of the night. When we
complained the next day to the General Manager, he was indifferent and
unaccomodating. We had hoped for an adjustment on our bill for our
inconvenience, since the stay was rather expensive for the value.
Otherwise, we would recommend the parador.

  34. Agnes Clifford says:

As a special treat to ourselves, my husband and I stayed one night at the Parador Granada. Enjoyed parador very much and views from terrace were stunning; found staff very helpful. Room was fantastic but felt a little bit let down as we had a problem with the air conditioning system which had started to leak while we were having breakfast. On arriving back at our room we discovered a bucket on the floor. Staff trying to sort out problem just came in and out of room without knocking. I wanted to enjoy our last few hours in the bedroom but had to leave early as I felt we were in the way. There was no apology or bill reduction for inconvenience.

  35. Jane and John says:

We spent two magical nights at the Parador San Francisco at the Alhambra. It was a wonderful experience to wake up each morning to a view of the Generalife through the roses blooming outside our window. The room was comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine. We are looking forward to more visits to Spain staying in Paradors.

  36. Andy Hyman says:

We stayed two nights at the Parador and were quite impressed with the beauty of the grounds and the view out of our window. However, we were disappointed that the staff spoke very little English and felt that we were bothering them when we asked them a question. At one point, one of the people who worked the front desk was at the bus stop when we were waiting. We asked him if the bus was still running and he acted like he didn’t understand and let us start walking down the hill – then the bus came and we had to run back. WE felt that a hotel of this calibur and price would have a staff that could understand English and would show some sign of trying to help.
The restaurant was wonderful and the service was excellent.

  37. WILLIAM GOODRICK says:

Entry sign confusing, ended up in the wrong place and had to pay to get out of the wrong area. Have stayed in lots of Paradores and love them but this is way overpriced. Dinner choices were unbalanced and gourmet and overpriced. Nice room view but airconditioner blows directly on the bed and then too cold. Do not open the window, mosquitoes! and no screen. We got good service in the garden bar. Reception was fine. In spite of all we enjoyed it.

  38. Tony Rio says:

Our taxi driver found the parador without a problem. We were greeted by very friendly people at the front desk who helped us many times with train schedules, and directions. Our room was nice but small for the price we paid. The terrace restaurant had a nice view and was tranquil, but we were glad we only stayed one night as we couldn’t walk to and from the town very easily.

  39. Claire and Brett says:

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Parador. It was quite expensive but we loved our room, the gardens, the patios and the proximity to the Alhambra. It was really nice to be able to walk out of the Parador at night and walk around the lit up Alhambra grounds. We thought the breakfast buffet was very good and the food in the restaurant was wonderful, if a bit pricey. The desk staff was very helpful. They arranged a tour for us to visit the Alhambra since we had failed to make advance reservations. They were also helpful about arranging taxis. There were also other nice amenities like a computer in the common area that had internet access so we could send a quick email home. I would agree with some of the other comments about the service in the patio bar. It was pretty terrible, especially getting your check. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to friends.

  40. Marjolein Towler says:

We spend 3 days in the centre of Barcelona prior to arriving at the Granada Parador and it was a complete haven of tranquility. Our ears rung with silence. It was expensive, but worth every penny for the location and the luxury. The reception service was great, the room fantastic (including a great view of the Generalife and gardens). The restaurant service was OK-ish, the food was good, but overpriced. The terrace service was flaky – good one night, bad the next and also overpriced. I would still wholeheartedly recommend it though. It is the sort of thing that should be on your bucket list.

  41. Laura Kilty, Maddy, Anna and Bruce Kramer says:

Our family arrived via a rental car from Madrid aiport on the afternoon of Good Friday, and departed Easter Sunday. We also [see T. Chakrabarty's comments, above] had difficulty locating the final road to the hotel from the area around the Alhambra. Once we arrived, however, we were almost-continually satisified-to-delighted by the Parador, with its beautiful, fragrant [wisteria-scented], serene [despite the Easter crowds] historic, and scenic [snow-capped mountains just east of Granada] setting. We had limited interaction with the staff, but they were always courteous and professional.

  42. Keith Adams says:

My wife and I stayed for three nights at the Parador, the whole experience was fantastic. All the staff without exception were friendly and extremely helpful. Having read a comment above about lack of service and unhelpful attitudes, I think the people may have been in another hotel (or planet!) to the one we stayed at. But in life, in my opinion, what you receive back from people is in direct proportion to your attitude to them.
We were delighted and have passed recommendations to our friends.

  43. J Chiu says:

We stayed for 3 days at the Granada Parador in April 2009. It was very poor value for money, especially in comparison to our stay at the Toledo Parador. The room we were given was on the ground floor and looked onto a still pool, not the most interesting of views. We were also very irritated by a strange clicking noise ( we guess it emanated from some electrical installation) at night once the lights were out. Our initial greeting by the staff at the Reception was very standoffish. The only things we appreciated about the hotel were its location and the view of the General Life from its gardens. All in all it is not a hotel we would recommend to friends.

  44. Erik and Annika, Sweden says:

We stayed two nights at the Alhambra Parador late April this year. Weather was excellent ,beside the late afternoon when we arrived (rain). Staff was very friendly, and the environment was unique. The staff took care of the car when we arrived and we did not have to bother with parking. The feeling of living inside the Alhambra palace is very special. The view from our room was very romantic and offered a splendid view over the Generalife summer palace which we of course visited, and which we also thought was one of the highlights with its beautiful views and gardens. We also, of course, enjoyed the Nazrid palaces and the Albaizin (old city of Granada). The only thing we have to complain about was that Eriks fish dish was not properly cooked. On the other hand we had a fantastic white (almond) soup one of the nights. Erik has stayed at a couple of more Paradors in Spain. They are all good, but this is unique because it is part of the Alhambra palace, and that is also what you pay for.

  45. Mary Ellen Cantor says:

My sons (teenagers) and I were enchanted by the Parador Granada. The building and grounds are beautiful and we had spectacular views from our rooms. Our accomodations were lux. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant was a different story. It is lovely, but the maitre d was out to lunch. He took my order for some wine. It had not arrived after at least 30 minutes. When I asked for the second time about it, a waiter came back and said that they did not have that particular wine. Dinner took a very long time, and I did not think that the quality of the food matched the price at all. Breakfast in the dining room was fine, very nice. I would have liked to enjoy a meal or drink on the terrace. It is delightful. One guidebook had said that by staying in this Parador we would have special access to some of the Alhambra. So I was disappointed that we could not walk the gardens without tickets. Overall, I would definitely recommend a stay at this Parador. Some day I hope to get a chance to enjoy some other Paradors as well.

  46. J. B. says:

Stayed in April and it was perfect….

  47. M. Hug-S. says:

Wonderful: the concierges, the bedroom (although the decoration is totally unpersonal and unappropriate in Spain where are the azulejos etc….). The more we travel now the more we see the same decoration with the same grey wall colours what a shame!, the view on the little garden, the restaurant, the quietness, the location, JUST WANT TO GO BACK AGAIN this time with no rain around! Went to visit the cathedral, the museum of Manuel de Falla. I did not go to visit the Alhambra as I have visited it many times and the weather was poor!

  48. Tapantosh Chakrabarty says:

Finding the small road to the hill to go to the hotel was was extremely difficult because of lack of sign. Once on the hill finding the horel was againdifficlut becuse of lack of sign.

The hotel is overpriced for the amenities it provided. The nathroom sink was very akwward with no room left for shaving kit and other stuff.

The hotel staff was indifferent to complaints to lack of sign. They gave the impression that if you do not like it go somewhereelse.

I stayed in 11 hotekls over three wekks in Spian, Parador Granda would rand among the bottom three considering the price and lack of service.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our two-day break at the Parador Alambra and felt we were very much in one of the oldest inhabitated areas of Spain. Our visit within the Alambra Palace demesne/World heritage Site was hugely interesting, despite the inclement weather. I have now stayed in some 4 Paradores and visited some 5/6 others in recent years and I frequently recommend to friends that they should consider seriously selecting Paradores for short breaks.

It was a privilege to stay at the parador in Granada. It is very expensive but to be part of the Alhambra was most interesting. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. Our room had a wonderful view of the Generalife. It was all very modern and spacious with everything we needed. we had lunch in the restaurant terrace. The food was reasonable but the service was terrible. It took ages to be served and then 30 minutes to get the bill after we had asked for it. There was no organisation at all. The bar was too modern and souless. There is nothing nicer than a Parador with a beautiful bar in keeping with the building. We have been in some wonderful ones. Ok, in a modern parador have a modern bar but in a lovely old building use the old parts to let us enjoy and sit with a drink for a while. By the way we love Paradors.
