Parador Cordoba

Located on the ruins of the summer palace of Abd-ar-Rahman I, on a hill surrounded by vegetation at the foot of the Cordoba Sierra, the Hotel has exceptional panoramic views over the legendary city of the caliphs.

The Parador of Cordoba building abounds with freshness and a temperature 4ºC lower than in the city. Parador of CordobaThe sensation of wellbeing is accentuated thanks to the pool and surrounding gardens (with a new orange garden called ‘Los Naranjos’) where the first palm trees in Europe may be found.

The indoor spaces are elegant and very bright with large lounges and spacious bedrooms. The dining room serves Cordovan salmorejo tomato soup, white almond gazpacho and churrasco sausage in green sauce.

We stayed in Cordoba for four nights and loved every minute. The city itself is beautiful with a brave mix of modern architecture alongside the old. The Parador was easy to find and well signposted and having just seen the pictures of the hotel we were expecting a sort of 1970’s fairly uitilitarian building, and whilst it’s true that the building is nothing special the public spaces, rooms, restaurant, gardens and pool are terrific. A very comfortable place to be with air conditioning that was truly efficient. The parador itself is a way out of town, however a taxi in was quick and costs about 8 – 10 euros.

  2. Philip Bunting says:

We had a very pleasant couple of days at the Parador de Cordoba. Although a little out of town (better for parking however) It takes about 15 minutes to drive into Cordoba.
Standard of service excellent and there was a subtle degree of beauty about the gardens. Large swimming pool and we had a beautiful meal in the restaurant. Room was excellent.
The only slight negative was the breakfast. Nevertheless excellent value for money.

  3. Doug Sim says:

Reception desk staff grumpy and curt. Pool operational, but hotel is impersonal, needs some TLC, and rooms cavernous. Although June, it was heavy rain and 18 deg C, so rather cold, and heating had been switched off. Did not attempt to explain that we wanted heating on, (not anticipating a good reception at reception) so filled bath with hot water to warm up the room.
Restaurant good. A good base for seeing Cordoba, there is a cheap frequent public bus from the Parador entrance to centre of town.

  4. Ray Hehman says:

The Parador was very difficult to find (even the police couldn’t help us). But once we arrived, we had a lovely room, the meals and dining room were delightful and the staff very helpful. The weather was unseasonable cool awith some rain; so pool time.

Cordoba has one of the most incredible sights in the old town–the Moorish mosque converted to a Christian church.

  5. Howard Dawson says:

We stayed in the Cordoba Parador for three nights, 11,12 and 13 May and sadly the weather was indifferent. The reception staff were distinctly unfriendly and functional, offering no information. For instance, our stay coincided with the wonderful Patio Flower Festival and there was also a procession on our last evening in the city, and neither of these events were highlighted by the hotel staff. It seemed as if none of the staff had a good command of English.
It was a major blow to us that the swimming pool was closed for building works (We should have been informed of this when booking, as the publicity photos of the Parador make a major play of this facility)
We did not have dinner in the Parador as 8.30 is too late for us, and we had some of the bar meals/snacks on two evenings. However the English translations leave much to be desired, and none of the bar staff had a command of English.
Our room was execllent, and spacious, and very good bathroom. The breakfast was probably the highlight of our stay.
The computer for public use was in a strange place, a first floor landing, and had the most uncomfortable chairs. We felt there should have been more than one terminal also.
Overall there is much to be done at Cordoba Parador, and we would not revisit unless there were significant changes

  6. Bob and Penny White says:

We stayed here for one night in May after leaving Mazagon and heading on to Granada. We were keen to see the Mezquita and old town and were rather taken aback at how far the hotel was from the city.
However, we found it reasonably easily, Paradores always seem to be well signposted.
On arrival the Reception seemed completely overwhelmed so it took some time to check in, we forgot to ask for a non smoking room and could smell smoke faintly in the pillows.
Our room was on the fifth (top) floor, it was very spacious and had a balcony which provided a good view of the city and building works going on nearby and some kind of industrial area nearby. Also we could see that the pool was not functioning, but we had not planned to use it.
The public rooms looked large and tasteful but we only really used the terrace which was outstanding, beautiful gardens, well tended as ever.
We ate lunch on the terrace and found the lunchtime bar service chaotic and disorganised. We had dinner in the main restaurant which was good, and predinner drinks on the terrace were professionally served. The terrace is the best and probably a signature feature of the hotel.
We were a little underwhelmed by the hotel at first, being 1970s style and not looking very well maintained on the outside, however after a day in the city we appreciated the breeze and coolness.
Air conditioning in the room was faultless.
I could get (free) wifi reception in the Lobby but nowhere else.
The hairdryer in the room was broken but housekeeping sorted the problem instantly
We were out of town but the taxi service is excellent and cheap.
Cordoba is definitely worth a visit, the Mezquita unmissable.

  7. Virginia Fisher says:

My daughter and I arrived at the Parador Cordoba on Sunday evening, May 9th, the eve of my 71st birthday. We had anticipated a lovely evening sipping wine while overlooking the city, culminating with a dinner in the Parador’s restaurant. Our reception upon checking in was less than enthusiastic. We unpack our cases, freshened up and headed to the bar, where we were eventually waited on ordering wine and a plate of jamon y cueso. It seemed to be an imposition on the staff that we had ordered anything, so once we had our glass of wine and the bit of ham and cheese, we retired to our room and ordered room service for dinner. The young lady who delivered our meal was the most polite of all the staff we encountered. Fortunately our welcomes at the other hotels in Spain were more gracious. I just regret have spent such a dismal night on what was to have been a lovely evening in Cordoba.

We stay for 2 days : 4 and 5 june. The pool is supposed to be opended i
june july and august. But it is not opened yet. The réception desk told us That if we re not happy we should just change of hotel. Well, once there you cannot cancel the tour of paradores you booked (général conditions as the customers services told us by phone). They say they have no obligation to open on june, just in july and august. But if you were told when you booked that thé pool is open on june… You are requested to file a complaint… Or to find yourself another hôtel but you cannot cancel your booking with a paradores tour! 9 nights in paradores and 4th disappointment!

  9. Rosalie Ber and Amir Bresler says:

Our reception on arrival was excellent, we were given apt information on how to reach the old city and tips relating to opening hours of the Mesquite, Flamenco performance and public transportation transportation.
The bedroom was lovely with a lovely view from the balcony.
The restaurant was nice and the breakfast was sumptuous
The location of the Cordoba Parador is some distance from the city, but we had no problem reaching it from Sevilla as the directions we received were excellent. We also had no problem travelling to and from the old city of Cordoba with both bus and taxi.

  10. mary t laurie says:

on the whole we found the Parador very good, however the down side was no pool( temp. 37) and building work was very noisy so we had to complain, this was dealt with reasonably quickly once the housekeeper found out where it was coming from! Were not too happy with the dinner, bot breakfast was very good, quite far out from the city, however taxi service was very good, overall enjoyable.

  11. P Welsh says:

We were surprised to find a Parador in the surroundings of a modern style hotel. We wondered on first arrival if this would reduce the usual Parador experience. But, if anything, this is one of the more impressive Paradores we have visited. The rooms were spacious and well appointed and the balcony views were impressive. The terrace dining and bar area is definitely a strong point, the service was excellent and the menu was varied – a lovely spot to catch the sun.

Although slightly outside the city centre, the town of Cordoba is easily accessible by taxi (10mins and approx €10). Taxis are readily available from the hotel.

In terms of Cordoba as a destination, it is truly stunning. The mosque (mezquita) is the highlight and should not be missed.

  12. L. Macon says:

We stayed at the Parador Cordoba on the nights of February 16,17 2010. The property is in need of refurbishing. Our room was large with a nice view, but, generally shabby. The main floors were attractive and welcoming, though. Breakfast was very nice..one of our dinners was simply not edible (which is unusual for us). There are no other meal options in the area. Staff was pleasant, with a couple of exceptions. We stayed at three other paradors on our trip and this one was definitely the low point.

  13. NP &HT says:

After the Parador in Carmona, we were disapointed with this hotel.
The rooms need to be re done and the bathrooms too. The hotel was practically empty but they gave us rooms overlooking the car park. We were annoyed at the arrogant behaviour of one of the waiters at the restaurant and complained to reception. Both dinner and breakfast were good . The receptionist and conciege very helpful in giving us tips about Cordoba.

  14. rosemary miller says:

Was surprised it was a more modern building but the staff, room, location, restaurant, standards were excellent. Visited in January, unable to take advantage of the pool, really easy to get downtown, an oasis, no hesitation to return.

  15. susan gouveia says:

We enjoyed our two night stay at this parador – the room was spacious and clean. We found the room overheated (November) and the heating did not seem to respond to the settings, so we left the balcony door ajar and the blinds down. At breakfast we heard similar comments from other guests. Breakfast was good and varied. We did feel that the hotel was ready for a re-furbishment and would suggest a better use of the Andalusian traditional decor which we love. The location is not a problem, its easy to take a taxi into town. On the whole reception staff were helpful but one member was a bit ’starchy’ and full of importance.

  16. David & Patricia King says:

On our recent tour of Andalucia we stayed in 7 Paradores, all very well run and most in exceptional and historic buildings. The Cordoba Parador, although a modern building, was very good and our room, clean, comfortable and beautiful views. We had been touring for over a week so it was wonderful to spend an afternoon by the pool relaxing before venturing into the city to see the Mesquita. Apart from breakfast which was fine, we didn’t eat at the hotel but chose to stay in the city to eat in one of the many restaurants. Taxi back to the hotel was easy and relatively cheap. One complaint was the price of a very small soft drink at the pool bar – if we had known we could have bought a six-pack for less than the price of one drink!! Extortionate. Hope to stay in more Paradores on our next trip to Spai

  17. R.G. says:

We stayed at Paradores in Segovia, Cordoba, Mojacar and Alcaniz all of
    which were excellent. I particularly
enjoyed the local menus which were good value.

Please keep me advised of any offers or news regarding Paradores as we
would like to visit Spain again next year.

  18. maureen yates says:

amazing place, wonderful room absolutely huge, superb view, fantastic food and service, enormous gardens and large pool, easy to get cheap taxi to city centre

  19. René Ilsen says:

During our latest holidays in Spain we stayed in Parador Guadalupe and Cordoba. Both were excellent equipped, perfect breakfast and staff was very friendly. The rooms, the hotels were very clean and service was OK. For Cordoba, the location outside the center, on the hill, gives a beautifull view. Thanks! Absolutely worthwhile to visit.

  20. Bjorn Ullebust says:

We just loved to stay at the hotel. The pool and the evening at the terrasse with an superb dinner with nice guitar music.

We are sure to return next year.

  21. Glyn Morris says:

This was our first stay at a Parador and it will not be our last. Everything was well organised, well designed, functional and clean, but maybe it lacked some warmth or originality.
We stayed only one night and ate in the restaurant; there was an option for a local menu and it was outstanding … I can thoroughly recommend this to anyone lucky enough to get the opportunity.
The Parador was exceptionally difficult to find by car as roadworks had closed the obvious access route, and it is a shame that there is building work between the Parador and the town of Cordoba which spoli the view somewhat.
If this sounds slightly negative, it is only slightly … I’m looking forward to being able to visit Cordoba again; and when I do, I will try to stay at the Parador.

  22. VAN BADEN MARC says:

    June 23, 2009
We enjoyed our stay in this very confortable Parador. The room was clean and nice, with a small balcony on the parking place…
The bar near the reception was very noisy and the service slow.
The restaurant on the terrace in the evening was very agreeably and quiet, the food very good and the service very friendly.Breakfast was correct. The reception was very helpful and kind. This Parador is a nice place to be,but the building do not radiate a historical place…
It is a pity for the wonderful city of Coprdoba!
But as a hotel this Parador is highly recommendable. We look foreward to our next visit.

  23. Karin & Philip Campagna says:

We stayed at this Parador for 2 nights in July. It was our third Parador & we loved them all for different reasons.

All of the staff were very helpful & friendly – reception staff changed our room on request, we really wanted a view as we had had in Malaga Gibralfaro and Carmona – this was done quickly & without fuss – it was worth it! The hotel is under-going refurbishment on the 4th floor but did not interfere with our stay.

The bar staff at the swimming pool were genuinely friendly & fun without being over familiar.

It was the trickiest to find by car (different, not very clear nor prominent signs as in Malaga & Carmona). We used taxis to go into Cordoba – a short & convenient means of transport between 5-7 euros each way.

We have and will continue to recommend all three Paradors & plan to stay in others in the future.

Thank you to everyone from the booking staff through to all of the Parador staff, we had a fantasic holiday!

  24. peri or-bach says:

We went to three Paradors ; Cordova, Ronda and Carmona .
    All were amazing…
    Thanks
    Spain is Wonderful……

  25. p jeffrey bower says:

We recently stayed in 2 Paradors – one in Cordoba and one in Granada. The Parador in Granada was nicer. Rooms were small in both locations. Quality of food was better in Granada. Personnel were pleasant in both locations. Room in Cordoba showed some age and could be upgraded for a better appearance. Balcony in Cordoba was a real plus and allowed for great nightime views. Convenience in both locations was wonderful.
A treat, however, in both locations. We look forward to our return.

  26. isabelle franzen says:

the facility was nice, clean, but totally without charm. it would appear to be managed by a man who has little sensitivity for small niceties. the whole facility lacks any flowers, plants, colors, friendliness….. everything is there, but it has little feeling of warmth.

i think it would be vastly preferable to move to a facility in town, an old building, much smaller, where service and hospitality can be provided

  27. Doug PETERS says:

Good location; hotel provided everything we and our two friends required.
Rooms fine; breakfast excellent (apart from traditionally cold Spanish bacon/eggs – why provide them if they can’t keep them at least warm!).

Staff attitude vg. View fair as we had room overlooking car park (balcony room looking down to Cordoba town would have been much better).

Bar prices nothing sort of extortionate so one abstains unless/until your in one of the many superb restaurants/tabernas in town.

    Would return.

  28. W.M.Williamson says:

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The quality of the room, location and amenities were all very good. The room was clean, spacious and well serviced. We were both very pleased that we chose the Paradour and would certaily highly recommend it to others.

  29. Douglas Dalrymple says:

We really enjoyed our stay the room was nice and big and we had a good view from the balcony. We enjoyed all our meals and the service was very good. we will be visiting again

  30. M. Hug-S. says:

What a shame to be in a modern place when they are so many old monuments in Cordoba but the room was nice, big, quiet with a nice view. The coffee shop was nice but the restaurant was poor need some improvements for food quality and presentation, A pity there is no WIFI or no equipment in the room and that we have to pay to get to the Internet. Went to visit the Mosquee and that was it as it was pouring rain!
