Parador Chinchon
Founded by the Lords of Chinchon in the 17th century, this former Augustinian convent houses monumental character set amongst that of Chinchon old town, with its emblematic Plaza Mayor main square.
Cypress trees, roses and wild privets in the garden give a beautiful appearance, finished by the marvellous cloister and softened by the blue water in the pool.
Parador of Chinchon has large windows and vaults, classical Castilian furnishing and the pretty, spacious rooms make up the hotel interior, characterised by a peaceful serene atmosphere. The dining rooms offers garlic soup, suckling pig, roast lamb and typical Madrid stew.

My wife and I had a wonderful overnight stay at the Parador de
Chinchon. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our
bedroom, the public rooms and restaurant were excellent and, the service
first class, as was the food.We enjoyed the gardens and swimming
pool. The hotel has a tranquil atmosphere and some lovely quiet areas
which present an interesting contrast to the Plaza Mayor and bull ring.
We had a great time. A wonderful way to end our travels through Spain. The food was great. The restaurants were very good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We will be back.
Stayed just one night after an easy drive from the airport at Madrid.
The Parador is situated just outside the main square, which is a great place for a drink or a meal, although the hotel restaurant is very good if you want something a bit more formal.
The room was spacious and comfortable with an excellent bathroom and the buffet breakfast was well prepared with plenty of local and international choices.
We were made very welcome by the friendly, helpful staff who spoke good English and will definately stay again.
Overall, highly recommended!
We stayed here for one night en route from Granada to Elciego on a recommendation from someone on Tripadvisor. We knew nothing about it other than the convenient location for our journey.
There was no other reason for us to stay at this hotel other than as an overnight stop on our journey from south west to north east on our return journey to UK.
My husband’s view is that despite the fact that we had booked a superior room which turned out to be a suite, including a four poster bed, the hotel was a major disappointment. The service was poor, the service in the bar/restaurant in the evening was slow and disappointing. (there was a wedding going on at the time).
The lack of air conditioning was disappointing given the time of year and the lack of advance notice as well as the hotel’s apparent indifference to our concerns.
The best thing that can be said about this hotel is that it is half way home. Reception was slow and more interested in their phone calls. Not to be recommended.
My view is slightly different: I thought it was a beautiful building and our room was sensational, the most spacious and well appointed of any. The lack of air conditioning was a surprise and it did get very warm and our sleep suffered as a result. In the hotel book it does not mention air conditioning, maybe we had overlooked it when making the booking.
The bar service was even more chaotic than elsewhere and we ate out in the town’s Plaza Major, apart from breakfast which was well up to Parador standard.
Public rooms in the hotel were very tastefully fitted out, with some religious statuary in keeping with its former life as a convent. There weassome very clever lighting in the corridor leading to our room.
The view from our room was onto a courtyard with trees.
Location of the hotel was very close to the Plaza Major which was a big plus. Signposting to this hotel was useless, my husband in fact scraped a sign trying to follow one direction.
Wifi was available, though I had to log on each time. It does seem to vary from hotel to hotel.
Chinchon was a very interesting destination.
We had heard of the Paradores and encouraged by friends decided to stay at Parador Chinchon for 2 days before starting from Madrid on our tour of Spain. The visit was a good chance to relax after our flight from Australia and the stay was wonderful. The staff were helpful, our spacious room had a great view over the beautiful garden, breakfast and dinners were good and overall the facilities at the Hotel were very good. We loved the village with its many shops, bars and restaurants and Parador was ideally situated close to the Plaza square. We travelled to Chinchon from Madrid by bus which leaves you at the bottom of the quite steep cobbled main street and being in our mid 70’s help with our luggage would have been appreciated. Overall it was a really great stay and we would definitely book again. We also visited Paradors Toledo which seemed to be of the high standard we enjoyed at Chinchon.
Me and my wife stayed overnight on route to Alicante Province, Excellent value for money using the golden days offer, which included an evening meal.
Food excellent and the breakfast buffet was exceptional. Rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed exploring the gardens and grounds, and taking in the history of the parador.
Well worth a return visit.
We have stayed at Chinchon at least 4 times and like it very much. The village square is terrific and has some excellent little restaurants around it. The parador itself has good rooms and a wonderful garden and pool. Very atmospheric. Highly recommended.
Chinchon is a beautiful city and we were happy we chose to spend time there. THe Paradore, however, was a disappointment because of the indifferent service. There was a wedding dinner going on when we arrived. This evidently resulted in poor, at times rude, service that day and the next. We walked in the gardens (not part of the celebration because of the time of the year) and were told the area was closed and to leave. No one at the desk would help us check in for our flight ( we went to another hotel where they were very helpful even though we were not staying there). The final negative was that the cigarette smoke in the hall permeated our otherwise very nice room. All in all, this was the least pleasant stay we have had at a paradore during 2 trips to Spain. The building and grounds are lovely…
We enjoyed our stay at the parador Chinchon. The room was comfortable and the en suite was clean and well appointed. The view from the room was rather dull – across to office building – but the view of the roofs across the town was good and so also was the view of the horses being prepared for the bullfight/fiesta.
The restaurant was rather disappointing and we were not persuaded to eat there on our second night. Not at all the quality expected for the establishment or the prices.
Nonetheless we had a pleasant stay.
We stayed with two couples the 3rd of october at Chinchon Parador.
We were with you after a 4 days sightseeing in Madrid. Afterwards we were in 3 other paradores in Toledo, Avilla,Segovia. But we all were very impressed by the Chinchon Parador. The most beautiful and interesting we visited. The rooms were very convenient. The interior of the parador was beautiful decorated. The illumination in the corridors
was fascinating. We had a very nice dinner in the evening. The hospitality was what you could expect of a parador.
The only thing we didn’t like was, that we had to leave the following day to the Toledo Parador. But we will come back some day.
We stayed at Chinchon for the 3rd year running on August 17th. As always the staff were wonderful. We enjoy our stay there on the way to Santander to return to England.
The dining was a most enjoyable experience. We find directions a little difficult but now we know our way there we will be returning again in2010
We had a wonderful stay recently at the Chinchon Parador .The staff were friendly, helpful ,and courtious . The building and its grounds were beautiful and the outdoor dining was spectacular , a classical music duet playing on a warm ,balmy night ,with good sevice and great food was a memorable experiance .
We owe thanks to the room maid and desk staff for their swift and efficient recovery of my wifes dressing gown ,left behind the bathroom door and returned to us just as we were driving out of the courtyard.
Our only complaint was the poor directions to the parador as contrasted with the excellent directions to Madrid airport given by the desk staff .
We have a wonderful time at Chinchon. Lovely people, great views, excellent food. What an interesting town! We walked up and down the hills enjoying the history and ambiance.
A wonderful place to stay – we wished we could have stayed longer (we will next time!). The Parador of Chinchon lived up to the recommendation we had been given by a friend in every way. Everything was just perfect. Thank you.
Our stay in the Parador of Chinchon was very pleasant. We carried away a nice impression about it and enjoyed also a visit of the town.
adorei, o parador conheço outros, este é muito bonito, bem localizado, um atendimento perfeito, e o restaurante é maravilhoso
“Loved the Parador, I know other ones but this is very beautiful, welll located, the staff is perfect and the restaurant is wonderful”
Everything was perfect–the personnel, the room, the view and the town.
thank you so much
Absolutely lovely and comfortable! Friendly helpful staff, luxurious bathrooms, beautiful grounds, spacious rooms, delicious bountiful breakfast buffet all within a charming town. Wireless was difficult to access. Conflicting driving directions were given to reach the Parador but we were given straightforward directions to reach Madrid from the Parador. I highly recommend!
