Parador Carmona
The fertile plain of the River Corbones makes for an exceptional panoramic view from the fortress, where different civilizations have brought their best artistry and culture. The splendid views from the Parador of Carmona play backdrop to the fantastic pool, gardens, patio and Mudejar fountain, Cupulin room, and terrace.
The large bright bedrooms enjoy exquisite classic decor which, alongside the Sevillian tiling, enhance this 14th century citadel.
The Bermejo Room with its tapestries and many antiques is a highlight. The refectory turned dining room is known as one of Paradores’ most beautiful, serving succulent seasonal and local dishes, with the partridge and Carmona spicy spinach dishes both standout.
Information and reservations at Parador of Carmona

Have stayed at this Parador 4 or 5 times and have usually enjoyed it greatly. This last May the visit was most disappointing. Staff seemed more interested in talking to each other rather than checking us in, disengaged perfunctory. Water line break was discoveered when we went to shower before dinner and the water was daark brown and intermittently that way for hours. Staff did not ocmmunicat with us and even at reception no one seened to have a grip on the status. All in all much subordinate to Jaen, Nerja (the best) and Granada.
We stayed at the Parador for one night. First impressions of the building – absolutely stunning and we weren’t disappointed at the inside either. The only slight drawback was the disinterested reception staff who carried on a conversation between themselves (4) and then one of them took a phone call before greeting us. Having said that, the rest of the staff were lovely and we had a delicious meal in the restaurant. Steve had the local tasting menu and I had the menu of the day, neither of us were disappointed and we thought it was very reasonably priced. Our room was beautiful with stunning views over the plains. We had pre-dinner drinks on the terrace way above the pool – breathtaking.
The pool was wonderful but disappointing that it doesn’t open until 11.30 in the morning so we didn’t get chance to have another swim before checkout at midday.
Carmona itself is beautiful and really interesting to wander round. I wish we had stayed longer.
I booked via the internet on the Golden Days package (sadly I qualify – just!) and we thought it was incredible value for money. I can’t recommend it highly enough and can’t wait to return and try other Paradors.
The Parador, our room, the view, the Restaurant were lovely. Especially enjoyed our dinner there. The little town was a treat to visit, with the interesting churches, museum and ambiance of “a small town in Spain”. All were very easy to locate.
The one drawback was the misrepresentation of the pricing. The room rates were listed as “including breakfast” but if we took breakfast, the rate would be different(higher). This is not an acceptable way to publish a rate, and was very misleading.
Also, I made the reservations many months in advance (about 6) through your Website which listed a Golden Age rate. I asked for this and was told it was not available. We were one of very few people staying there at the time, suggesting that a Golden Age should have been available. Your Website does not list Golden Age rates as seasonal so the refusal should not be based upon the time of year that we were there.
Stayed at the Parador in Carmona for 2 nights during the Easter break. Loved the atmosphere and the staff were helpful and charming. The room was lovely and the whole experience ensured that I would want to return
My wife and I stayed at the Parador 2 nights. One year ago I retired from the Hotel industry after 45 years, over 20 years as a general manager of some of the nicest hotels in Scandinavia.
My background, all my stays at some of the best hotels in the world should give me experience to judge the quality of this hotel. This was our first stay in a Parador.
From the moment we entered the Parador we loved it, the style and the atmosphere. The historic, but modern touch gives the hotel a very special experience.
The reception staff was very helpful and made us feel very welcome to the Parador.
The view of the plains from our room was so beautiful! I took some great photos at sunrise; the plains was covered in morning fog and made the photos look like a painting.
Other visitors have described the nice things regarding this Parador – I will give some quality advice, especially regarding the dinning room.
The first night we where greeted by a very nice and pleasant headwaiter that gave us a positive first impression in this beautiful dining room. The rest of the experience was a big disappointment: The waiters looked tired, no smiles, and no pleasure of giving service. We ordered Ravioli with Scrimps as first course and Sea Bass as main course. Both dishes were tasteless and a very big detour of the expertations we had. If it had not been for the nice dessert buffet, we would have left the dinning room as hungry as when we arrived.
Second evening in the dinning room was a very positive and enjoyable evening. We looked very carefully at the menu for local dishes and settled for Pate made from Pig liver as first course and Ox tale stew as main course. It was a grand meal, tasteful and more than enough food. Not much space left for dessert this evening.
The night was beautiful and we like to sleep with windows open, fresh and cool air is good for sleep.
In the middle of the night I was fully awake by barking dogs from a neighbor farm that kept on barking all night. To sleep I had to close the window. My advice is that the management has a nice talk with the farmer and suggest keeping the dogs inside the barn during night.
Conclusion: We loved the Parador and Carmona. It is a great place to stay when visiting Seville. We followed the front desk recommendation to park the car and take the bus to Centre of Seville.
I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to stay on a later occasion
Fully endorse all the positive comments featured here. Loved every minute!
The panoramic landscape surrounding this hotel is definitely the highlight. We were fortunate to benefit from clear weather on the days that we stayed and were rewarded by magnificent views of the Andalucian plains which we enjoyed from both our rooms and the ideally located terrace. The inner courtyard is a lovely spot to have lunch and the staff were very attentive.
We had a car so drove into Seville. It is at least half an hour each way but is well worth the effort.
Our first stay at Carmona. We loved it. Even barking dogs and the sounds of night birds only added to the atmosphere and the views tremendous.
Very attentive staff throughout. An excellent stay
This is a historic hotel, but it has a very modern touch, so don’t think you will miss any mod cons. The very special views are what make it an experience to never forget. Definitely recommend.
We stayed two nights at the Parador in Carmona. We really enjoyed it. Very relaxed. Staff very helpful enjoyed the dining room on both evening. Also found it very well located for visiting Seville.
We loved our stay and this was one of the highlights of our Spring Andalucia tour. Clean, comfortable rooms, peacefull location. Freindly helpfull staff and excellent food.
Would love to re-visit!
This was a potentially wonderful place to stay but was ruined by the all night howling barking and wailing of the numerous dogs that are left out at night under the rooms that overlook the spectacular view. We did not sleep five days.
A great shame for both guests and dogs !
We had a wonderful 3 nights stay at Parador de Carmona from March 23rd 2010. The rooms, food (had half board), view, staff bar area, were all excelent. We were four adults in our company and we all thought we got good value for money. I have however two wishes. 1: More English spoken channels at the TV system. 2: A shuttel bus from the Parodor to Sevilla, leaving the Parador in the morning and returning from Sevilla in the afternoon. Even if the bus service from Carmona was good (on time, comfortable buses), it had been more convenient with a shuttle from the hotel. If the hotel guests make a reservation for the shuttle in the evennig, you will know how big bus you need the next day. We came by car, but we wanted to be car free in Sevilla. We didn’ want any parking problems, and we wanted to have a nice lunch in Sevilla without thinking of driving any car back. I suppose many of your guests have the same preferances.
Lovely stay for our daughter’s 21st birthday in March 2010. A beautiful building in a beautiful location that I remember from a visit many years ago. All was perfect bar the dogs in a field nearby who barked all night. (Their owner should be checked out by the RSPCA!…- not the Parador’s fault!)
King Pedro (the Cruel) may have ruled from here but would have been jealous of the existing Parador. Fascinating town. Excellent accomodations and Dining.
PW 2010
We love it. It was all that we expected, view, food, room, etc. We pretend to be back in the summer.
I stayed here with my partner in February, and the room and food was great. On arrival the jacuzzi was full of ants which had spread all over the bathroom. We were offered a change of room but there was not another room of the same grade (we perhaps should have moved), A lady came and cleaned and sprayed the room but when the jacuzzi was filled it left a dirty scum mark around the water line. The following morning the ants were around the bedside table.
The food was great ,the evening meal and also the breakfast. The place is beautiful, but the staff didnt want to know when we came to pay the bill they just shrugged.
Having mailed our complaint we have not heard a thing, so if you have a complaint its just tough I am afraid. do not expect any recompense no-one cares enough to even reply to emails.
I would not recommend this hotel.
Carmoana was everything we had hoped it would be.. The recertionists were very entertaining and helpful, our rooms clean with a spectacular view of the valley. The food at the restaurant and the personal were excellent. In spite of the rain, we walked sown to town and visited churches and monasteries. We were also very happy to be able to do some last minute shopping for family and friends at the Hotel and spent a lot!
We stayed at this historic town in the sympathetically adapted Parador during a February weekend 2010. The saturday evening 5 course dinner, celebrating St Valentine’s Day, was superb, great value for money (45 euros including 4 wines) and a welcome surprise. The staff were helpful, knowledgable and charming. Despite the weather, a good 10 degrees colder than the Costa Del Sol, we had a couple of days visiting Seville (by public bus) and Carmona. The dual aspect views from our balcony, (room 413, which must have the best views) were superb and must be fantastic during the summer, as must be the swimming pool. An all round, great stay.
Majo and I get married in Carmona. A memorable place!
It was late of November we stayed two nights at Parador in Carmona.
The location of the hotel commended a nice view over the fields surrounding the hotel and traditional Spanish interiors were vey impressive too. Foods, bedding and services were good enough to enjoy
the stay at Parador which gave us a different and unique feeling compare with staying at the normal first class hotel in Marvella.
We would like to try to stay at another Parador in Spain if the opportunity allows us to visit soon. However, the first impression from the Carmona will be best impressive one during my stay in Spain this time. Appreciate your kind care during our stay, dear friends there…
We stayed only one night at the enchanted Parador Carmona. It was a pleasant and nice reception with very nice people. Our room was nice and very comfortable, the public rooms were nice and the restaurant was pleasant with a very good meal. The view from the public balcony was spectacular.
We made a short walk down to the nice Carmona.
Thank you very much and we have already recommend your hotel to our friends.
We had a wonderful stay at this parador. Our room was spacious and clean. I found opening and closing the shutters a challenge, but this was part of the fun of staying in a former castle. The parador is full of charm, well maintained and inviting.
The reception staff were most helpful and courteous. We had a very good lunch in the restaurant.
Carmona itself is delightful – and easy access to Seville airport.
Spectacular Location, Building and View.
Rooms need updating.
Insulation was poor. The baby next door woke up several times during the night and we were awaken as if the baby were in our room.
The restaurant La Yedra down the street from the parador was likewise spectacular-best meal we had on the whole trip.
The outstanding unique views of western Andalusia , the historical castle , its decorated patio , and the open balconies gave an additional interesting and pleasant dimension to our visit .
The room as well as the dinning room and the all over friendly and efficient service integrated into a wonderful experience.
We had a lovely time at this Parador, which is ideally located to both Sevilla and its international airport. A car is a must, given its location, and we found parking in Sevilla to be quite convenient, not far from the most important sights. The staff of the Parador are very helpful and the Concierge in particular gave very good advice. This Parador could use some refurbishment, especially the rooms and bathrooms, which are somewhat dated. Our only complaint the entire visit (2 nights) was the disagreeable Restaurant Manager on the evening of our arrival. Despite having been told that the Restaurant is open until 11PM, if one shows up after 10PM, there seems to be a lot of pressure to order and eat quickly, since he wants to go home. If this is the case, we suggest that guests be informed of this fact beforehand. It is not pleasant to get your dessert as the cleaning staff is trying to clear your table…. Otherwise, a splendid stay with beautiful views. We will likely return.
My wife and I stayed at this Parador in late Oct.,2009. It wwas one of the best experiences of my life.
We stayed 1 night at Parador Carmona 13th October 09 on our roundtrip in Southern Spain. It was a pleasant and nice reception with very nice people. Our room with balcony had a beautiful view over the country side of Spain. You could see acres of acres of agriculture as long as your eye could see. The public rooms where nice and the restaurant was pleasant and we had a very good meal. We had a good walk down town Carmona, it was just a short distance even it was very hot that day.Thank you very much and we have already recommend your hotel to our friends.
We stayed 2 nights in the Parador at Carmona and found it very restful. Wonderful view from our balcony, pool excellent. the town itself was quite charming, interesting Roman cemetry. Didn’t eat in the hotel restaurant either night as had had lunch in Sevilla on the day of our arrival and found a very good restaurant in close proximity to the Parador on the second night. the public rooms were well kept and interesting, nice terrace from the bar. Location of the hotel very convenient for the town.
We visited Carmona in September 2009. We were fascinated by the Parador; the dining room, the Patio and the whole setting. Very nice and recommendable. One of the highlights of our trip. Also a nice place to stay for visiting Sevilla.
We stayed early September 09. What a fantastic Parador with lovely rooms and quite stunning views, you can almost imagine the courtiers of King Pedro scurrying along the corridors. The pool is one of the best I have ever been in and beautifully kept, even if it is a bit of a hike down from the hotel. The town is a busy and atractive place but sadly lacking in restaurants, next time we will eat in. The bus to Seville goes from the main town square, so ignore any other signs, and runs very regularly. It all forms part of the local experience. A time table in the lobby would help but perhaps it was there and I just did not see it. Staff were brilliant.
Every thing fine……pity the pool does not open before breakfast
Excelentes vistas y excelente restaurante.
We loved it so much we stayed an extra night! Everything was wonderful. We will certainly be back. Adored the pool.
The pidgeons on the terrace were a bit of a nuisance though.
A thoroughly enjoyable expeirnce.
We spent two nights here in July – fantastic! Of the three Paradors we visited it nudged ahead as our favourite & we’ll most definitley return!
It was easy to find, we travelled by hire car; only a short distance from Seville & a slightly longer drive on to Cordoba.
We spent two days in and around the Parador & Carmona – we didn’t want to go very far – this was our time for relaxing.
All of the staff were extremely helpful & friendly.
The facilities especially the swimming pool, wonderful & the views – stunning!
We walked the short distance into Carmona, worth discovering its squares. Visit the Necropolis Romana, amazing but too far to walk on a very, hot day, we recommend that you do it as you leave.
Nothing but praise – had a wonderful time!
We had an excellent 2 night stay in late July at the Parador in Carmona, travelling up from Benahavis . We went to Seville by bus from Carmona- very efficient hourly service , taking an hour. The parador itself is beautiful , with an amazing situation at the top of the hill above Carmona ,with panoramic views over miles and miles of the surrounding countryside. Our room was very traditionally Spanish and charming in every way- we loved the 6-section shutters on the window! The bed was huge and very comfortable.
We ate in the restaurant both evenings, and enjoyed lovely food on both occasions . We found the staff very helpful and pleasant , especially a lovely girl whose name we have sadly forgotten ( it began with ‘B!) who served us drinks on the terrace, which has to be one of the most stunning places ever to sit and sip champagne!
The choice at breakfast was extensive, catering for every taste.
We enjoyed the swimming pool very much on arrival – the only drawback of our whole stay was that the pool shuts at 8.30pm , so we could not cool off there after returning in the evening from temperatures of 40c+ in Seville! Perhaps it could stay open an hour later in the height of summer?
Carmona itself is a pretty town – we recommend a visit to the tiny and very beautiful Monasterio de Santa Clara, which was a haven of cool peacefulness, with a tower from which we could see a stork on her nest.
The parador of Carmona was excellent in every way. We hope to come back some time. We had a wonderfull time.
Our room had a very small window but we could still see the views. The pool is a walk down quite a few steps so not easy for the less able. The food was ok but i was concerned about the amount of flies landing on the deserts which were not as well covered as they could have been and the hot items at breakfast were luke warm ,however there was plenty of fruit ,cereals, pastries and breads too. A short walk takes you into the town and we found a lovely small restaurant with excellent tapas, again quite steep in some parts with steps but the views are amazing and go on for miles. We had no trouble parking our car at the hotel and the staff were mostly friendly.
May 3.rd 2009
Parador Carmona is nicely situated, nice interior and a nice room with a lovely view. I do not know wat was wrong but we certainly did not feel welcome, the staff at reception as well as the bar and the restaurant were not very friendly – to say the least.
Breakfast was belove the standard we have had at other paradors.
It is a pity, that the potential of this place with its location and nice interior is destroyed by the behavior of an unprofessional staff.
Carmona is extrordinary in every way. Imagine a town square built by Roman legions in a town 8,000 years old when they arrived. The Roman ruins under the Moorish ruins topped by a beautiful tasteful medieval palace. If this place dosen’t trigger your imagination no place will. The food, served in a large banquet hall, was among the best during our trip. The staff was courteous pleasant and helpful. Only Jaen somewhat compares in our experience and we will return to Carmona first.
Everything about the Parador was absolutely excellent: the reception was quick and helpful, the room was spotless and comfortable, the view spectacular and the public rooms extremely agreeable. The food was marvellous, and everyone serving in the restaurant was really helpful, interested and efficient.
Stayed overnight on a blustery, rainy day. Welcoming staff and a comfortable room were appreciated. We had pre dinner drinks in the lounge and found the lounge drafty and cold as the windows facing patio are not sealed very well. The other public area usable for pre dinner drinks was occupied by a pharmaceutical company. Dinner was great, pleasant room, excellent service, good food and excellent wines. Excellent breakfast. All in all a most pleasant experience
A very special place.
There is not one negative comment to be made about Parador Carmona. The reception staff was cordial and helpful in every way. As with several other paradores in which we have stayed, it is a wonderful experience. It is peaceful surrounded by a sense of grandeur. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and well furnished. There is a spectacular view from the window over a vast plain of varying shades of green. Food in the restaurant was of very good quality and nicely presented. It is only a 15-20 minute walk into town where it is easy to catch a bus going directly into the historic center of Seville. The town of Carmona, itself, is an interesting place to wander around with plenty of opportunities to take pictures. This is a great two for one place to stay – Carmona and easy access to Seville.
Location great what a nice town and the hotel is fantastic, the rooms need some refurbishing but please keep the Spanish style, nice view, bad smell in the bathroom due to bad weather I was told, the restaurant is marvelous the best of the 3 paradores I have been to this time, food quality, presentation, innovation and excellent service. The concierges in general were nice with the exception of a young lady though who was a bit harsh! Went to visit the city, wanted to go by bus to Sevilla but it was a bit complicated. I think the Parador should organize one mini-bus to drop people in Sevilla in the morning and pick them up at night. Went to see the Zurbaran in one of the villages I forgot the name but sure not the paintings, walked in Carmona under the rain but appreciated the peacefulness of this country side and again the beautiful monuments.
An excellent place in every respect. Rooms, food, service, staff, location.
Will certainly recommend the Parador Carmona. Thank you.
see comment above, full of praise for the parador and the staff therein. Our favourite parador and we have recommended it to many
I think we have visited the parador at carmona about 10 times and it never fails to impress in every way. The historic building which has so tastefully been adapted to modern living whilst losing none of its grandeur. The situation, looking out miles and miles into the distance always sums up what Spain is about..space which is the reason for returning and staying in paradors along the way.
I think the parador at Carmona is our favourite as it is friendly, not too big and the staff are very pleasant.
Thank you..see you next year..God welling
