We had a very pleasant stay at the Parador. The staff were very friendly with a special mention for the barman, Ramon, who was brilliant.
Our room was very nice, in the old part of the Parador. Breakfast was good however the only downside was the dinners. We did not find the food particularly good, a lot better to be had in Cangas de Onis and cheaper. The main gripe we had was the lighting in the dining room. It was like eating in a canteen, totally at odds with the rest of the Parador.
Despite this I would recommend the Parador, which is in an amazing area which we will visit again.

Overall, the hotel was a slight disappontment although there were very good experiences also. The worst was really in the beginning - nobody bothered to tell us where our rooms are located not to mention helping with the luggage. This resulted in pointless and endless wandering around the corridors with all our luggage. The "superior" rooms were quite OK, but really dark. More light would urgently be needed. Breakfast was very good and other meals reasonably good, although there was no variation in the menu for day to day. However, the first evening salmon was clearly over-aged and unconsumable. The restaurant could not offer anything outside from the menu as we had dinner to celebrate my 50th birthday although we asked - not a special drink, any greeting, nothing. But we could use the chapel for a friend´s song present which was nice. The location was not ideal for trekking as many of the better Picos treks need over 2 hours driving to be reached. Conclusion: quite a pleasant stay, but not completely what we had expected.

Our stay here was very good. The standard of everything was as we come to expect from the Paradores.

We had an excellent stay. The location could not be better, away from the main road, very quiet, next to a beatifull river with a view to the Picos de Europa mountains. We had a great room in the abbey. Very clean with all facilities. Great housekeeping staff. All personnel were extremly helpfull and went out of their way to make our stay a pleasure. I intend to be back and will certainly recommend the hotel to all who wish to spend a relaxing few days in the countryside. Great restaurants in the neighboring towns.

This Parador was an unexpectedly unpleasant experience. Our room in the new block was comfortable in a typical modern hotel format but severely lacked sound proofing and all noises from adjacent rooms were clearly audible. A late arrival in the room above ours, wearing high heels and moving furniture and bags on bare floors kept me awake until well after 2am; not what was required after a tiring day. My complaint to reception in the morning was professionally handled and the tariff reduced. The older sections of the Parador are most interesting and well on a par with other Paradors that I have visited as were the dining facilities and menu. If this Parador using poetic licence can be promoted as being located close to heaven then regretably room 105 must be described as being close to hell.

We stayed for two nights in October. Reception staff were pleasant, but due to a phone call, we were kept waiting for this to be dealt with. Surely there should be someone dedicated to answering the phone. Site was excellent as was the hotel generally. Of the three we stayed in on this trip this hotel was the noisiest, it was similar to stopping in a much cheaper overnight stop hotel. The breakfasts were very good and the restaurant was the best of the three Paradores we stayed at. However it was still not great and we would have expected better food and service in this price bracket. Loved the area though.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and it was fantastic. From the moment we entered until we left the service was perfect. We really enjoyed the wonderful dinner and breakfast. We had a room that opened up to the river and I haven't slept so well as that night in many years. We will come back and we highly recommend this Parador.

We had a very pleasant stay at Cangas de Onis on 8th September. The room was spacious, quiet, overlooked the river and had a lovely view. On arrival, the staff were very helpful and pleasant as they were throughout our stay. Dinner and breakfast were great and the service excellent. This was our first stop and a superb start before a week's tour of North West Spain

We stayed for two nights at the end of June this year.

The room was perfect. It overlooked the river and was quiet and very comfortable.

For a night stop whilst travelling or a longer stay for those who are outdoor types the hotel would be hard to beat.

The staff were without exception kind and helpful. The dining room staff were particularly good. The food and service were for us perfect.

Our only observation (not a criticism) is that the dining room lacked the wonderful atmosphere that is found elsewhere in the hotel.

The best of the Paradores that we stayed in.
