Parador Calahorra
The Parador of Calahorra, built using red bricks, strikes a wonderful contrast with the clear waters of the river Ebro and the Cidacos Valley.
The garden, thick with vegetation and full of flowers and palm trees, is part of one of the most important historical and artistic buildings in La Rioja.
The ancient Calagurris is of roman origin, and its cathedral is its most famous building. The building’s features include huge doorways, windows and blinds with smooth interior lines and obvious medieval decorative influences. The conference suites are spacious with modern and functional facilities. The Rioja’s cuisine is based on the quality of the ingredients produced in the region. Its specialities include, vegetable stew, pochas (haricot bean stew), lamb chops with peppers, and pears or peaches cooked in wine.

Reception staff and barman friendly and welcoming. The bedroom and public rooms were good too. The evening meal was awful, the worst food we have eaten for years, some parts inedible! To make matters worse the waiter was rude and tried to hurry us through the meal as quickly as he could, even bringing the bill to our table at the same time as our dessert. For this reason we would not return to nor recommend friends to stay at this parador.
We stayed just one night on our way to Bilbao – first time we had stayed in a Parador. The hotel was beautifully furnished and the rooms were spacious and provided us with everything we needed. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff helpful and accomodating. Would highly recommend Parador Calahorra and look forward to returning.
We stayed for 2 nights in September, very happy with all the Parador in Calahorra. The lady receptionist was extremly helpful. The room was very clean, quiet and plenty of room. The chambermaids very helpful too.
We ate in the restaurant both nights, english menus great, food excellent and waiters helpful and accomodating.
Would definately visit again and book other Paradors.
I have stayed for more than 2 months total in the Parador Calahorra. The staff has always been extremely friendly and courteous. The rooms are comfortable, cleaned well, and quiet. The food is quite good, especially the breakfast buffet. Some good local spots we discovered there were the Killkenny Irish pub, 21 for fine dinners, and La Mafia for good Italian food. In all of the mentioned places as well as the hotel we have always been treated like family, and remembered on subsequent visits with a warm welcome.
Very nice accomodations! The room was beautifully furnished and the restaurant was outstanding. The young lady who works in the reception–I believe her name is Carmen Munoz–was very pleasant and helpful.
Lovely Parador with friendly helpful staff. Good location near town centre. Restaurant was excellent – we ate there both nights and were not disappointed.
Very nice hotel, staff very friendly particularly the young lady on reception who went out of her way to be helpfull. A very enjoyable visit.
Our reception on arrival was very good and the rooms given to us were very comfortable and well equipped. Most importantly, they were quiet. The public rooms were pleasant to look at but not used by us. The restaurant was excellent with dinner being well above expectations. It is in the town and easy to find. Only stayed for one night, but impressed.
