Parador Benicarlo

The magnificent Costa del Azahar compliments the Parador of Benicarlo’s splendid gardens, situated 30 metres from the sea.

The hotel’s interior contains classic contemporary furniture, and the architecture is the same throughout.

Rice, fish and sea food dishes are the basics of Mediterranean cuisine. Seafood dishes and the Benicarlo artichokes capture the region’s culinary character.

Overall we had a nice stay. Nice rooms, great pool and our kids had a great time! Benicarlo is small, lovely and authentic. Not overwhelmingly exciting, but definitely worth visiting when you’re in the area.
Regarding the parador itself; most important ‘pros’: room was good, breakfast was great and the location practical and easy to reach. Most important ‘cons’: uninterested, unfriendly and uninformed staff at reception, service level. Once this has been improved, I would recommend it to friends.

We much enjoyed our stay at Benicarlo last month.

We felt that the overall standard, both in terms of food and service, was good, and would particularly commend the buffet dinner.

We had a good-sized room which overlooked the hotel’s gardens and the sea/harbour and we enjoyed that very much.

The hotel’s location is just right. Proximate to the sea, while within easy walking distance of the town centre.

We had always intended a “lazy” holiday, but visited Peniscola a couple of times and, also, travelled to Valencia by train one day to have lunch at Torrijos restaurant.

We did feel that, more than once, the hotel bar was understaffed-just one person serving numerous customers on two occasions, so that it took a long time (15 minutes) to get a drink.

It would be helpful if your literature/invoices made clear whether or not service charge is included in your prices and what your distribution policy is as regards tips

I was very disappointed to discover upon arrival that the golf did not exist – it had been closed for over 9 months! It was clearly listed in the material I had received about the hotel & the websites and was the reason I had selected this particular hotel. Management simply were not interested so I left the hotel after one day – despite booking for five nights – and the lack of interest was demonstrated when nobody even asked why I was checking out early.

Set in lovely resort of Benicarlo. Attitude at reception not great, very unfriendly. Decor and furniture in room beginning to show age.. Marks on wall and chips out of wooden furniture. Not 4 star standards. Pool nicely located but a bit worn looking around the edges. Restaurant OK went a la carte but believe there was a menu del dia option but this was not offered. A bit pricey for what we got. No problems sleeping rooms were quite and comfortable with A/C.
Same problem on check out total disinterest, no one asked if we enjoyed our stay and had everything been alright.
We would stay in Benicarlo again as it is pictuesque but not at the Parador

Good midway stop enroute to south, easy to find. Rooms comfortable, view not great but we were at the back of hotel. Persistent door banging all night, thought it sounded like an outside firedoor, did mention it to staff, but I dont think they understood my attempts at spanish! Breakfast good value.
