Parador Baiona (Bayona)
Situated on the Monterreal peninsula, this is one of the most unique Paradors; the building is mid-way between a medieval fortress and seigniorial Gallegan architecture. 
It commands an impressive viewpoint above the ocean within a walled enclosure. It is protected by the sea and has a beautiful pine forest on either side.
The hotel Parador of Baiona has magnificent, stylish rooms full of decorative features from different eras. Manorial rooms and spacious bedrooms, many boasting spectacular sea views, make up a grandiose interior along with its outstanding stone staircase in the entrance hall.
The Parador offers a wide range of dishes including, sea bass with razor clams in rapini sauce, shell fish dishes, tarta de Santiago (Galician almond tart), and filloas (Galician pancakes).

We stayed five nights in Baiona in July. This is our second visit and the parador did not disappoint. We had a lovely room with a sea view. The breakfast was fantastic and the meals in the taoas restaurant were great. We had rather hoped to have the buffet lunch as we had enjoyed this the previous visit but they only do this in August.
Thank you for also organising our two day stay at this fabulous idyllic location just inside Galicia. The Parador was exceptional in design, facilities and staffing. There can be few settings in the world so dramatic and with the fabulous weather that we experienced we wished that our stay could be for weeks rather than just the 2 days that we could spare. The bedrooms were very spacious, up to the minute and well equipped with a huge stylish bath/ shower room. The restaurant was very good, breakfasts superb and the overall feeling of living in a 5 star castle was something which we will never forget.
I really enjoy returning to Baiona, 6 times so far. It is a charming place and the Parador is the cherry on top of it.
My husband & I recently stay at the Parador in Baiona. The location of the place and the place itself are magnificent. However, I did not feel very welcomed as we attempted to check in. They told us that we did not have a reservation despite the fact that we presented them with our printed confirmation. After a few minutes the clerk made us feel as if she had done a tremendous favor by granting us a room (the place was half empty). Later, while ordering drinks at the bar, the bartender was less than knowledgeable about drinks we attempted to order. However, the worst thing was when I stepped into the shower–there was black mildew all over the grout lines!!!
We have stayed twice at Parador Baiona, the last time for a friends wedding in June 09, the standards are very constant, its a truly wonderful hotel. I sure we will visit again. yorkshire UK
We stayed at the Parador in Baiona in May 2009. What a treat! We spent many a moment gazing out our window into the bay — the very waters where news of the “New World” first came to Europe with the return of Columbus’ Pinta. The fresh sea breezes, the proximity to Portugal (we drove to Valenca, over the bridge from Tui), the delicious food in the dining room, the friendliness of the staff — all combine to make this parador a “must do.”
I stayed in this Parador last Summer and Baiona is truly a wonderful place. The Parador is wonderful. We had a room with sea view and every morning we took breakfast just looking to the horizon. A walk around the small peninsula where the Parador is located is definetly a must. The town is just lovely and dining in one of the typical restaurants was a delightful experience. We will surely be back to this Parador.
