We were there at end of November, which is not an extremely busy time. People served us well, the room was excellent (junior suite) with a very nice few over the Guadiana river and the town. The restaurant was good, somewhat basic perhaps. Too bad that it was too cold to sit outside! Overall, we were very satisfied. It was our first experience with Parador, and expectations were quite high. We were there at end of November, which is not an extremely busy time. The staff was not friendly. The room were adequate but the bed was uncomfortable. The food was fair. i have stayed at many paradors. This one was subpar. Nice pool and grounds. Beautiful location. By next morning the bedroom was under 'ant attack' which is fine if you enjoy sleeping whilst insects are crawling over you. Our room was very pleasant with the balcony, and the view over the river was spectacular. The public rooms are tastefully decorated. The restaurant was OK, but not spectacular. The town was easily accessible by taxi. We enjoyed an all-day river tour where we had a very nice lunch in a Portugal town. Also, I enjoyed swimming in your large pool.
