We stayed two nights and had an excellent experience. The standard room did not have a view, but was very comfortable and well equipped. The service at the reception, in the bar and in the restaurant was first class, and the meals were also excellent. We will certainly be visiting other Paradores. The reception was warm and friendly and helpful despite our lack of Spanish, our room was fantastic as was the bathroom. We had a snack meal in the cafe/bar rather than dinner but the breakfast and the service were absolutely first class. We went on to stay in a further four Paradors on our holiday and all were excellent (Teruel, Soria, Lerma and Limpias). We will return. Special remark : I am disabled and sitting in a wheel chair. Reception at the Paradores, the help I received, the kindness of the staff, the accomodations (room, swimming pool and garden with special thanks to Parador Nerja, restaurants) were all outstanding! Everyone was super friendly and very helpful. First class. I became a real amigo of the Paradores. Thanks to all. I also didn't feel that there was much sense of the history of the place, even when sitting in the original part of the building. Food was good and the breakfast was outstanding - so much choice and all very fresh, sasly we were too full from dinner to do it justice! I would recommend it as a stopoff place en route to somewhere else - not sure how much is in the surrounding area, but then again we weren't there long enough to find out.
