Parador Argomaniz
The Parador in Argomaniz occupies a magnificent renaissance palace overlooking the natural beauty of the Alavese plains, the Gorbea mountains and the marsh of Ullibarri Gamboa. The area invites walks through the nearby village of Argomaniz and is an ideal location for enjoying the beautiful surrounding nature reserves.
The palace, where Napoleon’s forces rested before attacking the city of Vitoria, has the Larrea family coat of arms on its facade.
The rooms, floors, furniture, chests and other features in the hotel benefit from the charm of the wood and the magnificent materials employed. These can also be seen in its unique dining hall.

A very luxurious place to stay and the views from our room were magnificent. The bedroom was extremely comfortable with lots of nice little touches and the place was very quiet at night.
We had a lovely evening in the restauraunt – there was some live jazz, but without that it might have felt a little ’starchy’. I also didn’t feel that there was much sense of the history of the place, even when sitting in the original part of the building.
Food was good and the breakfast was outstanding – so much choice and all very fresh, sasly we were too full from dinner to do it justice! I would recommend it as a stopoff place en route to somewhere else – not sure how much is in the surrounding area, but then again we weren’t there long enough to find out.
reception staff no problem, room had a lovely view… of a concrete wall, dinners did not start until 8.30pm, 30 people all waiting to be served. Only shared starters available, I don’t want to share a starter with my wife I want to choose my own, we both have different tastes. Main course cold, not meant to be, asked for it to be reheated, it came back warm, but only the meat, the vegetables etc on the plate stone cold. Nice room, great breakfast, best part of the stay. Total indifference at reception when I complained “it is a management issue, I will tell them” My first experience of Parador Hotels and if this is the standard it will certainly be my last. Top class luxury…..we stayed with our one year old daughter who had her own travel cot made up in the room when we arrived!!! Staff were super efficient and very friendly, amazing rooms, delicious food and all in all one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Highly recommend.
The room we had was lovely, spacious and perfect in every way. We had requested a double when booking, but on arrival, we were told that only twin bedded rooms were available at our price; we paid extra for the room we had, which was a pity, but we were happy with the room. Reception staff were slow but very charming and helpful. The restaurant is imposing, the food perhaps rather heavy. I would recommend this hotel, it is nice to stay at.
We stayed during the very bad snow conditions early January to and fro Bilbão.
The recepton staff and standard of room were excellent on both occasions. The restaurant, I would agree with a previous guest, disappointing not to be able to enjoy the views. The food during our first stay was superb as were the staff. However on the second stay, unfortunately not so good, the waiter was rather annoyed when told we did not like the wine, which was very reluctantly changed and after some delay. Also the menu was limited in as much several of the items were not available, the Parador was not full, so I wonder why? We could not enjoy the surrounding area because of the weather but would use this Parador again basically because of the service and genuine attitude of the reception staff and accommodation.
Good standard. From our room we looked straight into a bank covered in rubbish. Due to very low placed windows in the restaurant. you could not see any of the glorious views from this parador! Disappointing.
Very nice hotel but lacking in the character expected of a Parador. The gardens were very poorly maintained, maybe it was the change of season (25th October) but I expected better.
The room was very nice, but we were a little disappointed that so little of the interior reflected the original ancient building. The remodel is tasteful but has no personality. We had a great dinner in the dining room, but one of our servers was quite obnoxious: cold and scornful and above answering our questions. Really unnecessary. The reception staff was terrific.
A short drive away is a nature preserve with a lake and bird sanctuary – no to be missed if you have a car. I forgot to mention the shock we suffered at being charged the quivalent of $75 for one load of laundry, not ironed!
We only stayed for one night on our way to Santander but everything about this parador was first class. We were made very welcome on our arrival.
Only one word: maravilloso !!!!!!!!!!!!
This hotel ranks as one of the best we have ever stayed in.
Staff and Restaurant was superb everyone was warm, friendly and so helpful.
The only criticism we had was that the service on the terrace was very slow as only one waitress was on duty.
I stayed at Parador Argomniz, Parador Olite and Parador SOS Del Rey Catolico. My remarks refer to all three. Of course the children like Olite the best because it was a real castle.
Dear Sir:
I found the three Paradores that I and my fmily stayed at were all outstanding.
The servance was excellent and the personnel at each of the Paradores were outstanding.
The only thing that I am confused about is how on my next visit to Spain and the Paradores is how am I able to obtain the discounts stated on the internet.
