Parador Arcos de La Frontera

The Parador in Arcos de La Frontera, situated on the banks of the Guadalete river, was formerly the Casa del Corregidor. It boasts an impressive view over the fertile plains surrounding the river, as well as the Arcos de la Frontera old town. It is an ideal starting point to embark on the wine and Pueblos Blancos (white villages) routes. Parador Arcos de La FronteraJerez de la Frontera and the fighting bull livestock farms are particularly interesting.

The hotel bedrooms with terraces provide some magnificent views of Arcos. The interior contains traditional Andalusian courtyards along with other decorative features, such as grilles and azulejeria (blue and white ceramics-tiles).
Wooden beams, rugs and archways finish the Parador’s decoration. The restaurant offers a welcoming ambience and traditional dishes from the Sierra; corvina a la rotena (sea bass in a red pepper sauce), bull’s tail and a 12 course tasting menu.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Arcos for 2 nights this past fall. The parador made our stay so nice! The weather was kind of rainy, so we had the chance to relax on our balcony with a nice bottle of wine and catch up with our friends back home using the wifi in the comfortable lobby and quaint hotel restaurant. The staff gave us a warm welcome every time we came back after a day of exploring. The view was breathtaking from our balcony and from the hotel restaurant. All of this with free parking too! It was a great experience and a definite highlight of our 12 day trip through Spain.

Our group of 4 friends had two wonderful rooms. The staff were so friendly and the view from our balcony, spectacular. We experienced an incredible storm with winds howling all night but were cozy inside in our beds. In the morning, with the storm still raging, we enjoyed the amazing breakfast while watching the storm outside and then through the window in the cafe. IN the afternoon, we were able to explore the town from the great location. Pictures of clouds turning pick over the cathedral at sunset are favorites and staying at the parador was the highlight of the trip.

Our stay in September at Arcos de la Frontera was everything we have come to expect of Paradors – the situation, the rooms, the calm interior and the very helpful staff on reception; and dinner in the courtyard was a lovely experience.

  5. Nice to be visiting your blog again, it has been months for me. Well this article that I’ve been waited for so long. I need this article to complete my assignment in the college, and it has same topic with your article. Thanks, great share.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in June 2011. Great location but the drive up was sporting due to a sat nav system that didn’t recognise one way streets and impossible turns. Coming out following the signs was ok.

My wife and I enjoyed our three-day stay at the Arcos Paradro in May 2011. Great staff, great room (nice view), and a very good restaurant on the site. The hotel is centrally located for walking trips, shopping and little bars, cafes and restaurants are plentiful. The drive up and down the hill to the hotel is difficult (very narrow streets with tight turns), but one learns to deal with it – we walked or took taxis. We would definitely stay there again. A good experience.

I agree with all the above regarding the view, and the setting in general. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and I would recommend the hotel strongly. It does need refurbishment. However, we went in February and there was a very limited “winter menu” which did not change. One night fine, but not more. There was a very good Italian restaurant just over the square.

The approach up the hills to the village and down again on leaving the hotel requires a small car and is not for the timid!

We had a wonderful stay here. The view from our balcony was breathtaking and we enjoyed watching a beautiful sunset. The food at the restaurant was very good, making our stay relaxing and perfect.

We had a wonderful stay at this Parador. The location is just outstanding, at the very top of the town, with a breathtaking view over the valley and excellently positioned for walks in the town. The internal decoration of the hotel is very refined and stylish, and the breakfast fabulous (and not only because of the view from the breakfast room). If you only want to visit one Paradores in your life, picking this one would not be a bad idea at all !

Wonderful location, at the top of the old town. We quickly got used to the drive up the narrow streets. Reception and staff very friendly and efficient. We had the view over the square and had no complaints. We even enjoyed the music classes each evening in the building opposite. Loved the restaurant, and if we wanted something less formal and cheaper the bars and restaurants a short walk down the street were also very friendly. The one problem was the self-appointed and unofficial parking attendant in the square, nothing to do with the Paradore, but part of the local experience. I tipped him the first night only, when he found and guided us into the only available park. However, when leaving on the second morning we found our car ‘coined’ along the side. Can’t prove anything but a costly annoyance.

We last stayed at Arcos 9years ago. We loved it then and it was
a delight to come back. There has been some changes and as far as we can recall all for the better. It was a most enjoyable visit made even better by the excellent staff and their helpfulness.

We, a party of 4, travelled through the Andulasia region for 2 weeks & we all agreed that, as far as accomodations go, this parador was the most memorable.

The young lady at the reception was wonderful. Not only did she checked us in quickly, she helped with our luggage & even helped us find a car parking lot near the parador (a huge bonus as lots were hard to find due to carpark upgrading construction) .

Our room & mine in particular had spectacular views. It was so relaxing just sitting out in the balcony with a bottle of cava, looking out into the valley below, listening to the birds & the church bell & feeling the wind.
The winds were super strong that night & the howling of the wind , the rattling of a small wooden window added to the memory of this wonderful place.

  14. Gill Millar says:

After the scary drive through the narrow streets to reach the parador at the top of the town it was great to receive a friendly welcome. Our room had a wonderful balcony with fabulous views, including kestrels swooping around the castle turrets.

We drove round the ‘white towns’ and up into the mountains to Zahara and Grazalema which was spectacular. Lovely location, very comfortable, and helpful reception staff.

  15. Jim Grace says:

A lovely hotel; a more spectacular view would be difficult to find! The price of accommodations was very reasonable. Although the menu was appealing, the food quality was not quite commensurate with its price.

  16. Chris Coffin says:

Amazing location and accomodations! Staff very feindly and helpful and a fun town to explore Our room on the square was a noisy at times but overall a positive experience.

Loved the location of the parador. Everyone was super friendly and very accommodating. However, the AC was not sufficient and we had to change hotels after one night.

Parador Arcos de la Frontera is situated lovely.
It’s worn out and in need of refurbishing and an update.
Aircondition in function would have been nice.

  20. Gayle Chin says:

The parador was wonderful in every aspect. It was a “Wow” moment when we opened the door to the room. Our only regret was that is was the only parador we stayed at during our 3 week tour of Spain. We will return to Spain again when we are over age 55. Then we can take advantage of the over age 55 parador discounts!

One of the best places we have visited during our trip to Andalucia: charming city and a delightful stay at tha Parador. The staff was very helpful, the room was amazing and the experience, unforgettable.

  22. Denis & Jennie Ling says:

Had driven across a rather lindifferent landscape from the Algarve, entered the town and found ourselves climbing up ever narrower streets until we reached this lovely square, one side of which was the Parador. We checked in and were invited to upgrade to a room with a view of the countryside, rather than the square. We went to our room and opened the doors to the balcony and wow!!! what a spectacular view from such a great height. The room was pretty and very comfortable. The terrace bar for afternoon tea was wonderfully sunny and again the view!!! which changed caharacter as the sun went down and then up again in the morning. A stunning and really worthwhile experience on our way to the Spanish coast.
