As many have commented this parador is more contemporary than the others, with the exception of the one in Cadiz. The staff was really helpful – they located our camera lense at the parador in Arcos and had it fast-shipped to Antequerra. They were very accommodating. We stayed here b/c the parador in Granada was fully booked… and as much as we both would’ve preferred staying in Granada, Antequerra was fine. We found the most interesting place to visit were the dolmans on the outskirts of town.

My wife and I stayed for one night in October. The room was lovely and the pool was just what we needed. However, our stay was spoiled by a staff strike, which meant there was no proper breakfast, just a dismal dry affair. An apology of some kind would have been appreciated and a partial refund should, I think, have been offered.

We have stayed in a number of Paradors and this is the first time we have been disappointed. Despite the hotel having very few guests we were put in a room with no outlook whatever. The room itself was fine although the aggressively modern design of the whole hotel is not to my taste.

The service at dinner, in an almost deserted dining room, was extraordinarily slow and when my main course finally arrived it was barely even warm. I asked for it to be heated up which was done with no apology or comment of any kind.

The selection available for breakfast was excellent but the coffee provided was lukewarm.

It is ridiculous that this hotel makes a charge for parking when they have a huge (and largely empty) car park. The effect is that almost everone parks in the quiet road just outside.

We found the town of Antequera rather uninteresting and a little scruffy and had difficulty finding anywhere to have a light lunch. The weather was poor when we visited which did not help our overall experience but we decided to move on after one night rather than staying for two.

We were very impressed with this Parador. It is an ultra modern building with excellent interior decor. The bedroom was generous and the meals excellent.

The location is good being slightly off centre but within very easy walking disctsnce of a decent sized town centre.

Our only concern was being levied a 10 Euro parking fee, given that in all the other Paradors we visited on this trip (six in total), none of the others levied an equivalent charge.

Apart from this slight annoyance, definetely worth a visit or re-visit.

This was our third and fourth day’s stay in a six day stay in Paradors. My wife is disabled, and the room was perfectly suited to her needs; plenty of space and a good sized accessible bathroom. Access to the other floors is easy via the central lift. the staff were uniformly excellent, very helpful and spoke good English. Wi-fi good speed. The barman is Irish, and we had a good chat with him. While we were there, there was a wedding reception. Apart from restricting access to the bar, this did not affect our stay, as they have a separate room for this. Evening restaurant service seemed slower that evening, however. Due to mobility restrictions we used the restaurant on both evenings. Service and food were excellent; I had a kid (goat) leg; very tasty. The second evening I had a ‘rustic’ local ingredients meal. On the whole this was not good, the pork dish was awful, but the chickpea stew was superb. Be careful what you order! the Engilsh translation is poor; why can’t Paradors get their menus professionally translated? Dictionaries don’t always have the specialist translation. The breakfast was the best of all the Paradors we visited – a great selection.
As said before it is a good position to see the local area. The Granada Parador is not disabled friendly, and Antequera is ideal as a base. Don’t miss out on the Sierra Nevada; superb scenery.

A wonderful stay in a lovely hotel. Check in and check out were flawless; clean and sparkling place with good views. Bedroom had everything you wanted. Staff very polite and friendly.
Easy striking distance for Ronda, Granada and Cordoba as well as the coast. Easy parking and well signed.

We stayed at the Parador in Antequera in order to meet up with a friend who was staying at the Villas de Antikaria in Antequera. We couldn’t book in to that hotel, so used Tripadvisor to choose a hotel. I was very glad that we did as I wouldn’t have wanted to stay in the other hotel. This Parador, is a purpose built ultra modern, minimalist type hotel. We booked into a standard room including breakfast for 2 nights. The hotel is in a convenient position to walk into the centre of Antequera, although there are not many places that we found to eat. Antequera is a good place to travel to Sevilla, Ronda, Granada, Cordoba and Malaga. The room was a good size with a seating area and flat screen TV, good size bed and very clean. A lovely glass bathroom with good quality bath gel, shampoo etc together with comb, dental kits and shoe shine , towels changed daily. The bed was turned down each night and chocolates provided at bedtime! The public areas were also very clean, the service at reception was excellent, the receptionists could not do enough to help, changed our room from a smoking to non-smoking and gave us lots of information about the area. The pool looked good although we didn’t try it. Breakfast was excellent in quantity, selection and quality. The restaurant has a wonderful view across the surrounding countryside. Breakfast is self service except for coffee, tea etc and the service at table the first morning was a little panicky but things calmed down by the second day! Overall an excellent experience, which I would not hesitate to recommend.

We loved the parador at antequerra – it was modern but beautifully
designed and the facilities were great and the staff delightful. All in
all the perfect place to stay in antequerra.

Our June stay was our second with you in Antequera. Last year we were
booked with you for one night in June, and during the night my wife
woke with very severe internal pain. Your staff were wonderful,
helping me to get her to hospital, and packing our things for us in the
morning. My wallet with all our holiday money was found under the
bed, and was kept safely for us until we came back mid-morning. Your
staff could not have been nicer to us, and we are very grateful.
Sadly, none of last year’s staff were around this June for us to talk
to, but our two days were perfect in every way.
We lazed around the pool for much of the time; we found the dining room had very good food, and everyone was as nice and caring as last year’s staff had been.
We are very fond of Antequera and have visited it every year for the
last six or seven years, and also of the Parador, and if we can get to
Spain again next year we will certainly come to stay with you again.

With all good wishes to you all,
    Patricia and Brian Berry

I was in Antequera to accompany my daughter to the World University Golf Championships. I was unable to stay at the same hotel as my daughter so chose to stay at the Parador. I spent a lot of time at the hotel by myself but felt entirely comfortable. My Spainish was very limited but the staff were very patient in understanding what I wanted. I have already recommended the hotel to my friends & would enjoy a revisit in the future.

We spent four very enjoyable and comfortable days in the Parador Antequera during May 2010. We found the staff so friendly and always ready to assist in every way. The food, facilities were excellent and being so close to the town it was an ideal location. We now intend revisiting Antequera again next Spring to spend another week in the parador.

My friend and I spent our first night in Spain at the Parador in Antequera and it was a wonderful jump start to our visit. It was a convenient, short drive (1 1/2 hours) from the Malaga airport; our reception was warm and friendly. The modern, comfortable room provided my friend with a spot to nap quietly, while I walked to town and up to the sensation Alcazabar for the view. We were both so jet lagged we slept through breakfast the next morning; and the staff kindly made us a continental breakfast to send us on the road. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay here. Very comfortable, modern and spacious. Good views over the surrounding countryside. A short walk from the town. Helpful, friendly staff. Excellent choice of food at breakfast. We had 2 evening meals in the restaurant, which were very tasty.

Although we were only there for one night, we had a very comfortable stay. Not a typical old parador but we enjoyed the modern design. Very friendly service at arrival and departure.
